[영화상식] Movie rating

..PAGE:1미국 영화의 광고를 보면 한쪽 구석에 반드시 R이나 PG, G 따위의 기호가 표시되어 있다.우리나라 영화광고의 '미성년자 관람 금지','중고생 관람가' 등과 비슷한 것인데 이는그 영화의 관람이허용되는연령층을밝힌 것으로 movie ratings(영화관객 제한기호)라고 한다.이 movie ratings는 미국 영화업계가 완성된 작품을 자율적으로 심사해 매기는 것으로관객들에게 의무적으로 알리도록 되어있다. 미 영화계는 지나친 sex나 폭력장면의 방영을둘러싸고 초기부터 당국과 마찰을 벌여오다가 당국의 사전검열을 피하기 위해 일찍부터자율규제를 해왔다.1922년 발족한 미 영화업계 단체인 Motion Picture Association America (MPAA,미국영화협회)는1930년 Motion Picture Production Code(영화제작 강령)를 제정, 대본의 사전검열 등을 통해지나친 sex나violence묘사를 자율 규제해 왔었다. 그러다가1968년 MPAA 산하에Classificatoin Board (등급분류위원회)를 두어 연령층에 따른 관람 허용기준 및 기호를마련했는데 이것이 현재 실시 되고 있는 movie ratings이다.* NC -- 17 No Children : 17 or older (17세 이하 미성년자 관람불가)이른바 ‘성인 영화(Adults only)’ 로 원래 X기호를 써왔으나 포르노(pornography)와 동일시되어영화 업계가 이를 기피하자 1990년 NC-17로 바뀌었다. 그러나 영화 업계는 여전히 이 기호를기피하고있어 거의 사용하고 있지않는 실정이다. 그래서 업계에서는 NC를 "No Change","No Chance"라고 비꼬기도 한다. (NC를 기피하는 것은 역시 흥행과 관계가 깊다.Basic Instinct도 NC를 피하기 위해 자진 삭제하여 등급을 R등급을 받았다.)* R-- Restricted : Under 17 Requires Accompanying Parent or Adult Guardian(제한조건부 허가 : 17세 이하는 부모나 성인보호자 동반시 관람가)* PG -- Parental Guidance Suggested (보호자의 지도 필요):연령제한은 없으나 부모나 보호자의 지도가 요구되는 영화로 "Some materialmay not be suitable for children" (일부소재는 어린이에게 부적합할 수 있다.)라는 경고가붙어있다. 원래 M(Mature Audience)기호를 썼으나 뒤에 PG, PG-13으로 바뀌었다.* PG-13 -- Parents Strongly Cautioned (보호자의 엄격한 지도 필요):PG 영화에 속하나 특히 13세 이하 어린이들에게 엄격한 주의와 지도가 요구되는 영화."Some material may not be inappropriate for children under 13"는 경고가 붙어 있다.* G -- General Audiences (일반용): 연소자 관람가' 영화로 연령에 제한 없이 누구나 관람할 수 있는 (All ages admitted) 영화.Movie Rating(영화 등급)..PAGE:2* 18 -- 성인영화: 17세 이하의 미성년자는 관람할 수 없는 영화 개정되기 전에는 X기호를 사용했다.* 15 준 성인영화: 14세 이하 부모나 보호자 동반필요. 개정 전에는 AA(Accompanied by Adult)였다.
