Experiment : Laboratory Equipment and Basic ComponentsAbstractThe purpose of this experiment is to be familiar to use various test equipment. The devices we used in this experiment include DC power supplies, breadboards, digital multi-meters, oscilloscope, and a function generator. Plus, we used some passive components such as resistors, capacitors and inductors. While I was doing this experiment, I learned how I able to measure the passive elements value, voltages, currents, and other factors such as peak-peak voltage, frequency, period, and phase.Description of circuitsDC serial circuitThis circuit consists of a DC voltage power supply and 2 resistors in series. In series circuit, the currents through components are same, while the voltages across the components are different; depend on the value of resistor. We may consider it as a voltage divider.DC parallel circuitThis circuit consists of a DC voltage power supply and 2 resistors in parallel. In parallel circuit, the voltages acroas a voltage divider.4) AC parallel circuitThis circuit consists of AC voltage power supply and 2 resistors in parallel. The frequency is same for all components. In parallel circuit, the voltages across components are same while the currents through components are different; depend on the value of resistor. This circuit is current divider.5) Basic AC circuitThis circuit consists of AC voltage power supply, a resistor, and a capacitor. This is called ‘RC circuit’, and it operates as a Low Pass Filter. The region for low frequency is determined by the resistor and the capacitor.Description of measurementComparison between nominal and measured values of resistorsI measured it with both an ohm meter and a LCR bridge. When I measured it with an ohm meter, I connected a resistor to the ohm meter, and pushed Ω button on the ohm meter. In the case of a LCR bridge, I could get the result as soon as I connected a resistor to a LCR bridge. That is, it recognizes it is a resistor element.Comparis connecting the circuit serially with the ohm meter, and pushing I button, I could measure the value of I.Measurements on a basic parallel circuit (DC voltage)I measured voltages and currents for every elements with ohm-meter. The process is exactly same as 4).Measurements on a basic serial circuit (AC voltage)I measured voltages and currents by connecting oscilloscope to elements.Measurements on a basic parallel circuit (AC voltage)I measured voltages and currents by connecting oscilloscope to elements.Peak-peak voltage measurementsI measured voltages and currents by connecting oscilloscope to elements and checking the peak to peak voltage on the screen.Frequency measurementsIt is same as 8). Any elements cannot change the frequency.Period measurementsIt is same as 9).Phase measurementsIn this case, I connected one side of R1 to ground of oscilloscope, and measured the result. I did the same thing for other elements. There was no shift on resistor, and only a few shift(45degree) on camA[Table4_Measurements on a basic serial circuit]R1R2Power supplyVoltage10V10V10Vcurrent2.12mA3.03mA5mA[Table5_Measurement on a basic parallel circuit]R1R2Power supplyVoltageOscilloscope500mV806mV10VppcurrentOscilloscope1.06mA2.44mA3.5mA[Table6_Measurement on a basic serial circuit]R1R2Power supplyvoltageOscilloscope1.67V1.67V10Vppcurrent3.55mA5.06mA8.61mA[Table7_Measurement on a basic parallel circuit]ResistorCapacitorFunction generator1.687V1.26V2.06V[Table8_Peak to peak voltage measurement]resistorCapacitorFunction generatoroscilloscope1.98kHz2kHz1.99kHz[Table9_Frequency measurement]ResistorCapacitorFunction generatoroscilloscope504us500us502us[Table10_Period measurement]ResisterCapacitor0˚45˚[Table11_Phase measurement]AnalysisComparison between nominal and measured values of resistorsThe resistors were 1㏀ and 3.3㏀(5% tolerance). The measured values were similar withthose values. The difference between two measurements may be caused by from tools. In other words, from the measuremenble.Measured values of inductorsIn this case, color striped inductors were not provided, so it was not able to expect values for inductors without measuring.Measurements on a basic serial circuit (DC voltage)The voltage was well divided as expected, and the measured values for currents were pretty accurate as well.Measurements on a basic parallel circuit (DC voltage)The current was well divided as expected, and the measured values for voltages were pretty accurate as well.Measurements on a basic serial circuit (AC voltage)I was able to measure the voltage across elements just with the measurements wire connected to two sides of resistors.Measurements on a basic parallel circuit (AC voltage)In this case, every element is connected to ground, which means that I was able to measure the voltage across elements just with the measurements wire connected to two sides of resistors. I achieved the results that I expected.Peak-peak voltage measurementsIn this case, I have measured the voltage bynt1.
Q.Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? People should read only those books that are about real events, real people, and established facts. Use specific reasons and details to support your opinion.Nowadays, there are many kinds of books that based on various topics. Some people tend to just read the books that based on real story such as newspaper and non-fiction. However, I think reading fiction books have many advantageous for people. They can release their stress and they also can learn some valuable lesson by reading these books.First of all, people can get out of real world when they read factious book and they may feel their stress released. Many people read books to stay away from their ordinary life but real story books would not give that chance. For example, according to a survey by Korea Broadcasting System, people asked to choose between fiction and non-fiction when they take a rest, 70% of people chose fiction. These people said that
It is debatable whether students can learn more effectively with the Internet. Some people say that students` concentration can be easily broken when using the Internet. But I strongly believe that the Internet is helpful to students because they can easily and rapidly find information related to their study. Also they would more easily get the chance to listen to lectures by very famous teachers via video conference.First of all, the Internet helps students to find many materials related to their study and their questions. When they study at home, it is hard to ask questions to their teachers or friends. Hence, the Internet, which contains lots of information of all fields, is a very useful tool. For example, a few years ago, when I working on a history project, I thought that the textbook had little information about historical figures. I tried to find information about them by searching on the Internet and I could find a lot of information. Thanks to this information, I could do more perfectly on my project.
