IntroductionWhat do you think about the saying, "A woman’s place is in the home?". In this modern society, women became active in various lives. Works don’t require lots of physical power because of the technology.Main point⒑ Women should have rights that they can do whatever they want.⒑ There are some fields of works, which women can do better than men.⒑ This idea that persists women should not invade the field of men is not universal.conclusionThe saying “A woman’s place is in the home” is really not agreeable, because women should have the rights that come from equality, and people should decide what they will do after concerning about their personalities and aptitude not their sex, and it is just stereotyped words in our society.ASSAY“What do you think about the saying, “A woman’s place is in the home”? Do you agree or disagree? Explain your answer.”Long time ago, when people made their lives with farming, hunting, and so on, it was taken for granted that men should work outside and women should work at home and take care of children. In this agricultural age, most works required a lot of physical power, and there hadn’t been machines or mechanism that could help the workers. So, men were supposed to do outside works since they were generally more strong and powerful than women. However, in this modern society, women became active in various lives, and this saying, “A woman’s place is in the home.” doesn’t have reasonable meaning any more. Works don’t require lots of physical power because of the technology. And people should have chances to choose what they do whether the person is a man or a woman since it’s not a matter of sex, but a matter of equality, personality of individual, and the atmosphere of the society.Women should have rights that they can do whatever they want. All of us know that every people must be allowed to have free and be treated equally as an individual. Likewise, every woman must be allowed to do what she chooses as her job. It wouldn’t make sense, if a person can’t do certain jobs just because the person is a woman. It should be understood with the idea of equality between sexes.In addition, there are some fields of works, which women can do better than men. With saying like this, I don’t want to mean that women are more superior to men. For example, if there is some work that needs delicacy or sense, it would be done better by women, since women are regarded as more delicate and sensitive than men. Also, if there is a man who is sensitive as a woman, he would be good at such work like any women. Therefore, whether a person does well at his or her work or not is determined by not his or her sex but the personality.Actually, this idea that persists women should not invade the field of men is not universal. This kind of idea can be taken as nonsense in some society. For example, I have read about some tribal society in Africa. Their idea about the roles of men and women in their society were much different from ours. They thought that most of outside works were for women and the house works were for men. They took this idea for granted and lived in this way. In short, the understanding about gender depends on the atmosphere of the society.As I have shown, the saying “A woman’s place is in the home” is really not agreeable, because women should have the rights that comes from equality, and people should decide what they will do after concerning about their personality and aptitude not their sex, and it is just a stereotyped words in our society. Nevertheless, if you still think this saying is right, you might be behind the times. Do you want to believe like that saying even now? Then you must swim against the current.
