ESSAYS (write within given word limit)1. Describe the most challenging time when you have had to stand up for an approach or idea that you most passionately believed in. How did you communicate your position and gain support of others? (500-600 words)The 2-month project at XXX, which includes developing a new communication tool and persuading the organization to utilize it, is one of the most challenging experiences in my life. It was so meaningful in two aspects. First, it was the very first experience that I made a ‘positive’ difference in business world beyond classroom. Secondly, I could learn how to LEAD PEOPLE to a better direction by PERSUADING them.The year 2011 was the time in which the number of customer claims reached its peak. As an Assistant Product Manager (intern), I was assigned to the project team to solve this problem and started with an investigation on the root cause. At first, everything was vague because of massive data, but things became clearer through analysis.e key people, including sales representatives from each business unit, people in order department and even CEO. At the meeting, the team and I made a presentation to convince people we need to use this tool. First we highlighted the seriousness of the problems by presenting numerical data and it worked. By reviewing the data, people came to understand the current extent of damage from customer claim and it’s worth enduring small inconveniences for greater benefits. As a person who developed the tool, I presented the second part of the presentation giving instructions on how to use the new tool and insisted that this solution can dramatically reduce the number of claims due to internal miscommunication. After the presentation our team and I listened to the audience’ opinion, and finally agreed to revise the communication tool reflecting their needs and introduce the improved version of the tool to the entire organization from the following month. As a result, the tool was established asMy job was to diagnose the current status and provide a strategic guidance in terms of product mix. Statement of PurposeWhy did I choose to study this field & why did I apply for this program?The reason I choose to apply for “EU-Korea ICI Exchange Program” is that for me it is the chance of a lifetime which allows me to use and improve my ability on the world stage. Throughout my studies in university, I have become more interested in the field of international business & regional research. First, my devotion to these fields started from my constant interests in foreign languages. I always have been excited about learning foreign languages, since for me, speaking various languages is a fabulous ability which can connect people from different parts of the world. This is also the reason why I entered foreign language high school. I studied English and Spanish there, and after three years my yearning to learn more about these fascinating languages became even greater. Therefore, I entered the English department of ??? University and also studied Spanish as my minor. The more I study foringuistic competence rather than studying language itself. In addition, the regional research which can be linked to the international perspective or view of the world also caught my attention. Therefore, I convinced that international business with the regional research focusing on each region’s cultural specific aspects is the field that I want to study more deeply.In third, nowadays European Union is a huge economic community which is significantly influential to the international business. Also, with its predominant position in the field of world economy, Europe consists of various cultures and those cultures are coordinated under the name of EU, keeping their cultural originality at the same time. These two facts are attractive enough to make me be eager to study in Europe. Hence, in my opinion, the European areas are worth researching intensively under the topic of international business environment and regional analysis.To sum up, throughout my life I kept developing my competenm qualified to be an exchange student because I made much effort throughout all the days in the university. First, my GPA shows that I am a student who can perform outstandingly and complete perfectly what is assigned for him or her. As a result, I obtained straight A+s in all the courses that I took from three different departments. (See the copy of transcript attached.) In addition, I have been awarded six successive academic scholarships, which are full scholarships from ??? Scholarship Foundation. Also, during the courses I tried to cultivate the knowledge in the field which I interested in.
