U.S HistoryJanghyuk ChoFinal paperDue 02/14/2012Researching Essay about U.S History(Based on formation of America include Civil War)Colonial EraIndependenceElectionCivil WarReconstruction EraThe Formation of AmericaAmerica, from the colonial period, was mainly structured as an extension of European society and culture to profit its mother country. America shaped its society based on the various ethnicities consisting of Europeans, Native Americans, African slaves, and immigrants unifying the whole nation. The United States of America is one of the economically and culturally leading nations and has a reason how it became powerful, dominant, and unique. Three main factors, race, freedom of religion, and concept of democracy, have contributed to this power and uniqueness that America stands for. Many historical events occurred and shaped the United States from the colonial era when people came to America seeking for hope, all the way to the Reconstruction era when people began to actuall’ main source that ran the economy was agricultural plantation such as tobacco and cotton. The plantations heavily relied on African slaves as the source of labor which meant that the abolition movement will drive the plantation owners out of business. Enslaving Africans not only signified profits, but also represented political ambition and social pride which were bound within the institution (Abolition Source Document pg.2).The conflict and tension between the North and the South about slavery escalated and developed into political issues. As new territories joined the United State, the issue of whether or not the incoming states should be a free or salve states became controversial. The federal government tried to manage the ratio of slave and free states equally so that neither side, South nor North, becomes dominant. In the 1860 presidential election, Lincoln from the Republican Party was elected as the president against three other parties such as the Southern Democrats, Northerntionalist; New Hampshire had Congregationalist; New Jersey had Lutheran, Dutch reformed, and Quaker; New York had Church of England; North Carolina had Anglican, Pennsylvania hand Quaker and Lutheran; Rhode Island had Congregationalist; South Carolina had Anglican and Huguenots; Virginia had Anglicans.(http://www.kknfa.org/Religion_13Colonies.htm) As religion became the main source of the colonial society, it also influenced the political growth of the Church and the State as a bound form.Ironically, comparing to the idea that the colonies were founded by people supporting religious freedom, people were mostly forced to attend to Church of England in the English colonies. This gave a motivation to numerous people from the south such as the Quakers, Christians, and Puritans to move up to the northern region of America to found colonies that allowed absolute religious freedom. Religions expressed in different manners between the South and the North gave a motivation to form a distinct soin reason was to escape from monarchy which is exercised suppression and dictatorship. The 13 colonies under British control basically followed the English Common Law and had a British government ruled under the King of England. As Britain required more and more tax from the colonies, “the people who held no property, paid little or no taxes, and could not vote who suffered most directly from the conflict between Britain and the colonies organized to protest against Britain’s taxation and to declare independence” (American Revolution Source Documents1: The War pg.1). After the victory of the Revolutionary War against Britain, that Americans wanted to form their own government that followed the principle of democracy. America began with a weak federal government by signing the Articles of Confederation which was later replaced by the Constitution. After setting up an independent government, George Washington who was the hero of the American Revolutionary War became the first President ocan continent. While expanding to the west, the congress passed the Indian Removal Act for settlers of the Western hemisphere to reside safely without the threat from the Indians.Americans from the colonial period had a strong pride and a unique viewpoint different from other countries. Their lives from the colonial period involved struggle for freedom and democracy. Dreaming about hopes, fighting for freedom, striving for unification, exploring the unknown lands, reforming to enhance the well-fare, and creating a democratic government for the people were all essential parts that defined America. However, there were two main conflicting pursuits of thoughts between the Whites and the Blacks that remain from the colonial era, and maybe to these days. The original settlers who were dominantly whites from Europe always attempted to occupy the upper class of the social hierarchy and leave the Africans at the bottom. Thus, Africans who later were granted American citizens had a major differs

  • Schizophrenia about Macbeth(Thesis Statement)
Macbeth had Schizophrenia. He knows murder is evil and there is some kind of following punishment. He also knows he shouldn’t murder Dunkin. But the madness from wars that he won, prophecy from the witches and his ambition made a perfect collaboration to express.

Pre – Calculus Research PaperJanghyuk Jay Cho10th GradePre – CalculusResearch Paper for “PRE CALCULUS”About Pyramid(Formulas are based on The Red Pyramid,Almost of basic formulas are the same with other Pyramids except last few levels.)IntroductionFew Thousand years ago, Egyptians made a ‘Pyramid’ for their king (Grave). It shows how Egyptians were considered about an after life. There are many different kinds of pyramid. Mustafa, Red Pyramid, Pyramids of Giza, Step Pyramid, Curved Pyramid, Khufu‘s Pyramid and more. Most of them are square based with triangle sides. But each of these Pyramids used different formula, different size. And that is why some of Pyramids are still well preserved in great condition or some of them are not preserved like whole one side got crumbled. There are two most safe and well preserved Pyramids that everybody knows. It is Khufu’s Pyramid (The Great Pyramid), and Red Pyramid. Khufu’s Pyramid is a biggest Pyramid in the whole world. And also it is one of the rea] + (1/2 * Perimeter) * [Slant Length]And the formula of Volume is 1/3 * [Base Area] * Height Also, other Triangle based andPolygon based Pyramids formula of Surface Area and Volume are the same with Square based Pyramid.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------CircumferenceThe foremost standard unit of measurement used by the Egyptians was the ‘royal cubit’. This length, equal to about .524 meters, was marked out into 28 subdivisions which were called ‘fingers’. If the diameter of a circle is made equal to a royal cubit in length, then this diameter will as a result be 28 fingers long. How did they made Pyramid, Structure of PyramidEgyptians chose the west part of the Nile River, inter alia, part that does not sinks under water. And since they chose the place, they cleaned up the sands, gravels until the hard rock part comes out. After that they chose the cardinal points north, west, east, and south. After these the slope way after the whole construction finishes. Most of slope ways were 4 times longer than the Pyramid’s circumference. The Egyptians placed the Kings room straight under the vertex of the Pyramid. The last thing for the Pyramid was covering surface with the best limestone, and trim.Architect plans and formulas of PyramidEgyptians had indeed developed an empirical method, which they could ‘square the circle’ in terms of the circle’s area. Their method was to measure the diameter of circle, and find 8/9th of this diameter length, and then square the 8/9th amount. The formula = [OR = 8/9 * OB = 0.8888 * OB][O = Middle point of a circle]And since that line AB (diameter of a circle) is cutting the square to exact same half and each of squares are equal to 8/9th of the circle's diameter, centering the square on the circle’s middle point shows that the finding that half of the square’s side will be equal to 8/9th of the circle’s radius. The relevance of this distinction will become shor following analysis gives every appearance of explaining the original design process used to derive the pyramid's interior layout. It would seem that the steepening of the exterior angle was an overlay that was added to an already existing scheme.(Line OC is the height which is 17/18th of Line OB.)Red and Blue highlighted lines are the two lowest lines, and these will now be used to derive the Red Pyramid’s descending passage parameters.(Angle N is 43 degrees 21.8’Angle O is 47 degrees 54.4’)(D is Vertical point)Figure 9 is the diagram in the derivation process for the Red Pyramid. Numbered 1 through 16 in the diagram above are the entire circle and square intersection points for a pyramid of the 17/18th proportions. Lines have been drawn from the diagram’s center to each of these points. Line number 9 in figure 9, leads to the first of the intersection points located above a 45 degree angle as measured from the diagram's center (Point O in figure 9). Intersection number 9 marks where 444’And if we put 1 – B instead of A in formula H = A * 1.107 = (1 – B) * 1.107 = 0.9444 * B and so ‘1.107 * B + 0.9444*B = 2.05144*B = 1.107’ and this gives us ‘B = 0.53962….. A = 0.46038….. H = 0.50964…..’Wrap up‘Trigonometry’ is using since few thousand years ago. It is that useful. It is one of the key elements for the truss structure, which is important for most of architectures include Pyramid. This one Pyramid needs Thousands of trigonometry formulas. And it is amazing that, that old people used a lot of life mathematics and build a lot of architectures in their ways without knowing any math definitions or formulas.Sources & Bibliography Hyperlink "http://www.gnedu.net/php-bin/swebdata/%C1%DF%C7%D0%B1%B3/2%C7%D0%B3%E2/%BB%E7%C8%B8/1%C7%D0%B1%E2/ms2*************/mainframe6.htm" http://www.gnedu.net/php-bin/swebdata/%C1%DF%C7%D0%B1%B3/2%C7%D0%B3%E2/%BB%E7%C8%B8/1%C7%D0%B1%E2/ms2*************/mainframe6.htm Hyperlink "http://www.atara.net/pyramids/Bent/index.html" http://www.atara.pt.

  • Macbeth essay, The Schizophrenia 질병
Janghyuk Jay Cho04-20-2012English 10Mr. HolemanMacbeth with SchizophreniaSchizophrenia is a disorder that gives the patient delusions, hallucinations, illusions, mental insensitivity etc. and sometimes causes social problems. In delusional part, they usually have persecutory delusions, grandiose delusions and delusions about their body. In hallucination part, most common hallucinations for schizophrenia are auditory hallucinations. These people have problem with controlling their impulses, and can be very offensive. Macbeth’s main symptom is detachment from reality.Macbeth was written in 1605-1606. Many reviewers defined ‘Macbeth’ as a ‘Vision of evil’. They also said “Shakespeare tried a more audacious experiment through Macbeth than any of his other great works.” In the whole story of Macbeth, wickedness controls everything. Also hero in Macbeth is different than any other book’s heroes. Hero Macbeth, murders the benevolent king and also hires a few murderers to kill children and womGolden opinions from all sorts of people”(1.7.32-33) to his wife with refusing the plan about murdering Duncan. That means Macbeth know how to respect Duncan as a king. He’s here in double trust:First, as I am his kinsman and his subject…Strong both against the deed; then, as his host,Who should against his murderer shut the door,Not bear the knife myself.(1.7.12-16)He thinks about Duncan’s virtue, and so murdering him is not justified. Therefore he was born as a good natured person. His wife and the three witches prompt Macbeth’s hidden ambitions. Macbeth found inevitability from the witch’s prophecy. He obsesses about murdering the king, and also he describes his confusing feelings. My thought, whose murder yet is but fantastical,Shakes so my single state of manThat function is smother’d in surmise,And nothing is but what is not.(1.3.138-141)After Duncan chooses Malcolm for the next king Macbeth feels a sense of betrayal to him which prompts him to make a final decision which is murder. He has very effective and strong imaginative power. He sees specific images about crime, like the bloody dagger. He can see it, but cannot touch or feel. It is a kind of illusion and psychological portent. Thus showing that his senses and mind are divided and do not work together. And it causes conflict and chaos between the real world and the imaginary world inside the head of Macbeth. Is this a dagger which I see before me,The handle toward my hand? Come, let me clutch thee.I have thee not, and yet I see thee still.Art thou not, fatal vision, sensibleTo feeling as to sight? Or art thou butA dagger of the mind, a false creation,Proceeding from the heat-oppressed brain?(2.1.33-39)A mental storm shows up visibly, and that comes from Macbeth’s aversions and strong fears. Contrarily, it directly comes out with action rather than thoughts. Therefore, he kept making other crimes to escape from the mental pains that he got from the previous crimes rather than examine the meaning of his evil. When he hears the door sound, he said “whence is that knocking? /how’s is’t with me, when every noise appals me?”(2. 2.57-58) “Wake Duncan with thy knocking! I would thou couldst!”(2.2.74) these are showing that he got extremely sensitive and scared about everything. One of Macbeth’s actions, was to wash out his bloody hand. ButWhat hands are here? Ha! They pluck out mine eyes. Will all great Neptune’s ocean wash this bloodClean from my hand? No, this my hand will ratherThe multitudinous seas in incarnadine,Making the green one red.(2.2.59-63)He thinks his blood will cover the whole ocean instead of washing his hand. And this is one of the persecutory delusions with grandiose delusions that also contain physical delusions. Macbeth also had auditory hallucination. He constantly heard knocking sounds which made him very nervous. There are many of people who got better from serious schizophrenia. But in Macbeth’s case, nobody helped him. His wife was doing same thing later on, and the witcg in that seat. Also when Macbeth went to visit the witches, he had three more auditory hallucinations. The first one was an armed head that warned him to "Beware MacDuff." (4.1.71) the second one was a bloody child that said "Macbeth! Macbeth! Macbeth!" (4.1.77) and the third one was a crowned child with a tree in his hand that said, "Macbeth shall never vanquished be until Great Birnam Wood to high Dunsinane Hill shall come against him." (4.1.92-94). He imagines a bloody dagger floating over him, believes that witches have foretold the future and yet at other times seems quite rational and sane. Since he stated to think about murdering Duncan for his power, nobody could stop him. Even he couldn’t control himself. Every single strange symptom he caused was related to schizophrenia. And at last he caused his own death. As it showed up inside of book, Macbeth shows several symptoms of schizophrenia. These symptoms are techniques that Shakespeare uses to create the idea that Macbeth has a
