Chinese Revolutionfrom collapse of Qing dynasty to cultural revolutionDue on 2013-07-15KyungHee UniversityKim HyunminAfter the collapse of the last dynasty, China experienced long revolutionary period until the Cultural Revolution which made by Mao Zedong. This long revolutionary period is remembered as dark period by many people. But we should not make mistake that considering this rocky time as the whole Chinese history. China’s accent is focused by many people nowadays. China made its own unique political and economical system no one could imagine. Once, Chinese leading scholars lost their imagination toward future but now they are establishing new china through several revolutions and attempts that were never tried before.The dictionary definition of Revolution is an attempt by a large group of people to change the system or social tide of the country by force. China had a long revolutionary period but almost attempts to change in early days were not really successful and acceleratonal administration were not converged into one way. Still there was a controversy between intellectuals and those ways of thinking never converged in one way.It was harsh time for Chinese like any other collapsing dynasties in East Asia at that time. Modern history was time for western countries which experienced industrial revolution and bourgeois revolution. I think it was reasonable that western powers colonized many East Asian countries including china because those countries had never had industrial revolutions and bourgeois class as a result. The western powers had already achieved economic development and classes divided up according to financial ability. The western powers needed to find new alternate source of raw materials and markets to make further growth. Their military armed its soldiers with modern weapons and always ready for aggressive war. The Western countries had experienced industrial revolution gradually over 100 years. There was a huge gap between china and westil war until the CCP integrates whole territory of china in 1949. Chiang Kaishi who lost his power came to Taiwan and established the Kuomintang government on Taiwan. Mao Zedong and the CCP started its revolution to make new china socialist country. It took a long time to be integrated in one country but I think this long struggle between the CCP and the KMT gave some opportunity to Chinese people to judge follow which side. As a result, Mao and the CCP showed its clean political culture and will to make strong china but Chiang Kaishi and the KMT were brought dishonor with corruption and gave people a strong sense of disappoint.The new china started its revolution to establish socialist country. At first, Mao impounded private property and nationalized the land. Second, he served during the Korean War and fought against United States. It led to international isolation. Third, he carried forward the Great Leap Forward. He thought china had to promote heavy industry to strengthen power aeople needed someone like prince charming who can lead the country.It is needed time and money to elect representatives, to gather people’s opinion and in democratic country. But socialist country like china never needs this kind of process and following budget. I think this is more efficient point than any other democratically developed country. For such a huge, underdeveloped nation, former china, fast growing economy was the best important purpose. Civic awareness or cultural level was the next subject in their new construction. And if you look at the system of political system and process that they handle a bill in democratic countries, the important factor that cannot found in socialist country exists. That is a party strife among major parties. In Chinese political system, people don’t have to argue upon serious problem and don’t have to spend time on a political battle. Of course china also has 9 independent parties except CCP but role of those parties are working for nation hel was blemish on Chinese history and it made the whole world think of china as Maoist dogmatism. And even today, some people remember the Cultural Revolution as the whole Chinese socialism history. During this period, Chinese intellectuals and people who had money and authority more than others were criticized in public. I travelled several cities in china and people I met all said that no one wanted to learn and wanted to be different from others. This was quite interesting point. Probably this kind of thinking was standardized downward in socialist country.Mao and his colleague’s revolutionary attempt have both sides. Their straightforward policy made what they wanted very fast throughout society but that was severely their own opinion. People were just like test subject. But I don’t think people will protest against the state or will ask for democracy over dictatorship. I think people thank for the state which made people’s life richer and happier than ever. It proves against western.

사마천 - 사기 독후감

사마천의 사기를 읽고자율전공학과2010105649 김현민사마천의 사기는 한나라 무제 때의 역사까지를 담고 있다. 읽으면서 꽤나 놀라운 점을 많이 발견할 수 있었다. 사람을 삶아 죽인다던가, 사촌끼리의 결혼이나 이복동생과의 불륜 등의 근친상간, 약간은 변태적이다 싶을 만큼 포악하고 인정 없는 진시황과 같은 사람이 어떻게 정권을 잡고 나라를 쥐고 흔들 수 있는지 의문스러웠다. 공자와 노자같은 훌륭한 군자의 사상에 비해 그 시대는 지금의 시선으로 보자면 인권도 없고 자유도 없는, 마치 어릴 때 많이 했던 온라인 게임 속의 세상 같았다.사람을 삶아 죽이는 팽형의 경우, 우리나라에서는 그렇게 하는 시늉에 그쳤다고 한다. 대신 장례절차까지 마치 사람이 죽은 듯이 하였고, 그렇게 팽형을 받은 자는 집 밖으로 나올 수 없었으며 그 자손들도 벼슬을 하지 못했다. 사회적인 매장인 것이다. 하지만 사마천의 사기에 나오는 팽형은, 진짜 사람을 삶아 죽였다. 그렇게 삶아죽인 사람을 시체를 갈기갈기 찢는 거열형에 처하기도 했다. 조선이 사형을 확정지을 때 3번의 심판을 거친 것과는 사뭇 대조적이다.하지만 우리는 조선과 한나라는 천 년 이상의 세월을 사이에 두고 있다는 점을 간과해서는 안 된다. 그리고 오늘날의 기준으로 그 시대를 평가해서는 안 되겠다. 그리고 중국의 크기, 인구 수도 무시할 수 없다. 많은 인구를 다스리려면 그만큼 칼의 권력과 법이 강력했을 것이라는 추측이다.사기는 중국의 신화, 삼황시대부터 한나라까지의 역사서이다. 그 기간만도 2,400년에 이른다. 공백 없이 역사를 후세에 전달하고 싶은 사마천의 노력이 돋보인다. 사마천은 궁형을 당했다. 그 시대에 궁형을 당하면 관습적으로 자살을 했는데, 사마천은 치욕을 무릅쓰고 삶을 선택했다. 역사를 기록해야한다는 강한 의무감 때문이었다. 덕분에 오늘날 우리는 중국의 고대 역사를 전해들을 수 있게 되었다.우리나라 조선왕조실록은 세계기록문화유산으로 지정된 중요한 역사서다. 조선왕조실록의 위대함은 객관적인 사관의 기록과 합리적인 구성, 그리고 정확하고 구체적인 기록에 있다. 지금은 인터넷으로 손쉽게 실록을 볼 수 있도록 했는데, 검색창에 ‘코끼리’를 치면, 태종 13년 일본에서 공물로 보낸 코끼리가 사육사를 밟아 죽임으로 전라도 해도로 귀양보냈다는 기록이 나온다. 그리고 영화 ‘왕의 남자’에서 등장한 ‘공길’을 검색해보면 연산군 11년, 공길이 논어를 외운 것이 불경하다 하여 곤장을 쳤다. 라고 나온다. ‘공길’이 실존 인물임은 물론 그가 논어를 외웠다는 것까지 알 수 있는 것이다.사기는 사마천이 전국을 돌아다니면서 책을 구하여 읽고, 사람들의 이야기를 들어 완성한 역사서다. 그렇기 때문에 사관이 누구의 압력도 없이 서술했던 조선왕조실록과는 그 객관성에서 차이가 있을 것이다. 특히 사마천의 사기는 문학성이 뛰어난 역사서로 평가되는데, 이는 인물의 묘사나 사건의 묘사에서 볼 수 있다. 어떻게 그런 이야기가 책에 전하는지 혹은사람의 입으로 들을 수 있는 것인지 모를 만큼 자세하고 길다. 필연적으로 사마천의 상상력이 큰 몫을 했다고 생각한다. 마을 주민들의 입을 오르내리면서 덧붙여지거나 없어진 이야기도 상당할 것이다. 사기는 아마도 본기 세가 열전으로 나뉜 절묘한 구성과 그의 상상력, 문학성에서 좋은 평가를 받을 수 있는 것 같다. 그리고 삼황시대부터 한나라까지의 역사를 한 구성으로 엮었다는 것만으로도 사마천은 큰 유산을 삼긴 것이다.
