    블루오션 전략뉴욕주립대학교 스토니브룩나는 창업을 해서, 세계적인 소프트웨어 기업을 만들고 싶다는 꿈을 가지고 있다. 나는 소프트웨어 개발에 대해서 대단한 열정을 가지고 있으며 내가 18살이었을 때, 나는 농촌의 정보화를 위해서 소프트웨어 개발 프로젝트를 진행했다. 그 과정에서 나는 농촌에 대해서 지식적인 도움이 필요하다고 판단하여 한국 농촌 진흥청의 청장님께 메일 보냈다. 청장님으로부터 답장을 받고 얼마 후, 농촌 진흥청 전산과 팀장님과 수석 프로그래머가 내가 재학 중이었던 고등학교로 왔고, 나는 그들과 소프트웨어 개발 프로젝트에 대해서 이야기를 나누었다. 그 면담을 통해, 나는 좋은 소프트웨어를 만들기 위해서는 단순히 프로그래밍에 대해서 공부하는 것이 아니라 경영학 혹은 마케팅에 대해서도 공부할 필요가 있다고 느꼈다. 그렇게 본 책을 읽게 되었다. Blue Ocean이란 현재까지 개척되지 않은 잠재적으로 사업성이 큰 시장을 말한다. Blue Ocean Strategy라는 책은 이러한 잠재적인 시장에 도달하는 방법에 대해서 서술한 책이다. 나는 이 책을 읽으면서 단순히 경영학에 대해서만 배운 것이 아니라, 마케팅은 우리의 삶과 유사하다는 것을 느꼈다.한국 사회는 이미 ‘Red Ocean’이다. 많은 사람들이 이미 정해져 있는 길로 자신의 삶을 살아가기 위해 노력한다. 한국인에게 고등학교를 졸업하고 대학교를 가는 것, 그리고 대학을 졸업하고 회사에 취직하는 것은 너무나도 당연한 것으로 받아들여지고 있다. 그들은 삶에 있어서, 너무나도 많은 시간을 같은 길을 걷는 경쟁자와의 경쟁에 투자한다. 하지만, 그 경쟁에서 무조건 승리하는 것은 아니다. 왜냐하면, 이러한 유사한 삶의 방식은 많은 경쟁자들을 만들어냈고, 그들이 목표에서 성공할 확률은 계속해서 희박해지고 있다. 그럼에도 왜 그들은 ‘Red Ocean’적 삶의 방식에서 벗어나지 못하는 가? 그들은 ‘Blue Ocean’ 삶에 대해서 모르는 가? 아니다. 그들은 그 누구보다도 그것이 어떤 것인지 매우 잘 알고있다. 다른 사람들과 다른 목표를 가지는 것, 자신이 원하는 삶을 사는 것, 독창적인 생각을 하는 것, 이렇듯 그들은 그 누구보다도 잘 알고있지만, 그들은 다른 사람들과 다른 길을 간다는 점에서 큰 두려움을 느낀다. 자신만의 목표를 가지고 새로운 길을 만들어 가게 되면, 자신 이외에는 아무도 가본적이 없기 때문에, 그 결말은 아무도 보장할 수 없다. 또한, 그들이 ‘Red Ocean’적 삶을 살아가게 되면, ‘Blue Ocean’적 삶보다는 실패에 대한 위험성이 적다. 그렇기 때문에 그들은 ‘Red Ocean’에서 벗어나지 못한다, 하지만 대부분 우리 사회속에서 성공한 사람들은 다른 사람의 길을 모방하여 성공한 사람들이 아니다. 스티브 잡스, 빌 게이츠, 아인슈타인, 에디슨 등 위대한 업적을 남긴 많은 사람들은 자기만의 길을 개척해서 나아갔다. 하지만, 그 이후의 많은 사람들은 성공하기 위해서 그들을 모방하거나, 일방적으로 성공한 사람들과 비슷한 길을 갈려고 한다. 왜냐하면, 성공에 대한 위험성이 적기 때문이다.그러나, 우리는 ‘Red Ocean’에 너무 많은 경쟁자들을 가지고 있다. 이제 우리는 ‘Red Ocean’에서 벗어나 ‘Blue Ocean’으로 나아가야 한다. 물론 ‘Blue Ocean’이 많은 위험성을 내포하고 있지만, 우리가 ‘Red Ocean’에 살아 가기엔 우리들은 모두 너무 독창적인 존재이다. 이 지구 상의 수 많은 사람들 중 서로 동일한 사람은 단 한 명도 없지만, 우리는 우리가 가진 독창성을 멀리하고 동일한 방향으로 나아가고 있다. 이제 우리가 성공하기 위해서는 우리들 만의 독창적인 ‘Blue Ocean’을 찾아야만 한다. 나는 이 책을 읽으면서, 우리의 삶도 경영학과 유사하다는 것을 느낄 수 있었고, 독창적으로 생각하는 것이 얼마나 중요한 것인지를 깨달을 수 있었다.

As a result, human beings were able to create a wonderful thing that was not seen in the past earth. Human beings wanted to create a thing that could surpass the human being. That was artificial intelligence. Have you ever seen a movie called ‘Terminator’? In this film, artificial intelligence which is out of the human control has antipathy toward human beings and war with human beings. The mankind which is not physically superior than machines was eventually defeated by artificial intelligence, and mankind was destroyed. Because of this movie, many people believed that artificial intelligence would bring the destruction of human civilization. However, all technologies have duality. Many people responded sensitively to the negative elements among the many elements of artificial intelligence. They thought that artificial intelligence was not a symbol of the monument to human superiority, but evil to bring the end of mankind. However, I think that if artificial intelligence is developed, it will have a great impact on the development of mankind’s civilization.The reason supporting my argument is that artificial intelligence can help us achieve our ultimate goal. Human beings have a common goal to achieve prosperity and permanent survival by exploring and studying about the planets with environments which are similar to the earth’s environments. It is difficult for human beings to research about the vast universe with their limited intelligence. However, artificial intelligence can solve the complex and hard problems in very short time such as research that human beings have to take a few days to solve. Thus, artificial intelligence can research fields that human beings cannot do and cannot reach. Eventually, human beings will discover a planet which is similar to the earth through artificial intelligence and it will made us reach there. In addition, through its ability to detect highly correlated data, mankind will find solutions about genetic diseases which will almost permanently increase the life span of mankind. Because artificial intelligence will be a great part of helping to sustain mankind’s life span permanently, artificial intelligence will be monument to human being’s superiority.Moreover, mankind can maintain the ultimate and ideal society form through artificial intelligence. Human beings can cooperate with artificial intelligence and solve various social problems. With artificial intelligence, mankind can discuss the policies that human beings could not think, and they can know the correct solutions about the various problems caused by some policies and the directions that human beings should take. It will help people to solve the social problems using their data and algorithms in the end. Furthermore, artificial intelligence can play an important role as an advisor about government policy because it does not think on one side but on various side to solve the problem as a whole.Many people are worried that artificial intelligence will increase unemployment. However, this is not correct. Certainly, because of the development of artificial intelligence, many jobs will disappear. On the other hand, many jobs will be created. Since the Industrial Revolution, many workers were worried that many jobs would be lost due to factory automation. However, new jobs were created to manage and operate machines in factories. After all, the unemployment rate did not increase. In other word, when artificial intelligence is developed, there will be many jobs for managing or monitoring artificial intelligence. I think that it has a potential to increase the employment rate.I think that artificial intelligence will help human beings for political, social and scientific benefits in human beings’ civilization. We should change our perception of artificial intelligence. The development of artificial intelligence will make human civilization more convenient and will have a profound effect on permanent survival of mankind. That is why I think that artificial intelligence is the most symbolic object in human civilization. Although effects of this does not appear now, it will be revealed to the world after it is completely developed. In the end, everyone will say it will be a new revolution.
