emma watson: gender equalitythe more I’ve spoken about feminism, the more I have realized that fighting for women’s rights has too often become synonymous with man-hating.If there is one thing I know for certain, it is that this has to stop.For the record, feminism by definition is: “The belief that men and women should have equal rights and opportunities.” It is the theory of the political, economic and social equality of the sexes.I started questioning gender-based assumptions a long time ago,When I was eight, I heard that I had to be born a boy because I enjoyed riding a bicycle. Of course no one scolded my brother. When I turned 14, teachers told female students to behave modestly When I turned 15, female friends who like to exercise are gone and When I was 17, my brother and his friend of the opposite sex didn't express their feelings.I decided I was a feminist and this seemed uncomplicated to me.But my recent research has shown me that feminism has become an unpopular word. Women are choosing not to identify as feminists.Apparently, I am among the ranks of women whose expressions are seen as too strong, too aggressive,isolating, anti-men and, unattractive, even.Why is the word such an uncomfortable one?I am from Korea and think it is right that I am paid the same as my male counterparts. I think it is right that I should be able to make decisions about my own body. I think it is right that women be involved on my behalf in the policies and decisions that will affect my life.I think it is right that socially I am afforded the same respect as men.But sadly, I can say that there is no one country in the world where all women can expect to receive these rights.No country in the world can yet say they have achieved gender equality.I am inviting you to step forward to be seen and to ask yourself if no me, who? if not now, when? thank you very much.제가 느낀 건 페미니즘에 대해서 이야기를 할수록 그리고하지만 최근 제가 조사한 바에 의하면, 페미니즘이라는 단어는 그다지 호의적이지 않은 단어로 분류되고 있습니다. 여성들은 자신이 페미니스트로 분류되지 않기를 선택하고 있습니다.제가 확실히 아는 한가지는 이러한 생각은 멈춰야한다는 것입니다.페미니즘이라는 단어의 뜻은 남성과 여성이 평등한 기회와 권리를 가져야한다는 신념입니다.남성과 여성 둘다 사회적, 경제적, 정치적 평등을 가져야 한다는 이론입니다.저는 성과 관련된 억측에 대한 생각을 오래전부터 해왔습니다.제가 8살이었을 때, 남자아이로 태어났어야 한다는 이야기를 들었는데 그 이유는 그저 자전거를 즐겨 탔다는 이유 때문이었습니다. 당연히 저의 남동생에게는 누구도 꾸중하지 않았습니다. 제가 14살이 되었을 때, 선생님들은 여학생들을 상대로 조신하게 굴라고 이야기했습니다.제가 15살이 되었을 때는, 운동을 좋아하는 여자친구들이 사라졌고 17살이 되었을 무렵에 제 남동생과 주변 이성 친구들은 그들의 감정을 표현하지 않았습니다.저는 저 스스로를 페미니스트라고 결정했습니다.전 이러한 문제들이 그리 복잡하지 않다고 생각합니다.저는 사람들의 인생에 영향을 주는 정책을 결정하는 데에 있어서여성이 관여하는 것이 옳다고 생각합니다 사회적으로, 저는 남성과 같은 존중을 받는 게 맞다고 생각합니다.분명하게, 저는 수많은 여성중에서 표현이 너무 강하고, 너무 공격적이고고립되며 남성들을 싫어하고 매력도 없습니다.왜 페미니즘이라는 단어가 이렇게나 불편한 단어가 되었을까요?저는 한국에서 왔고, .
