As America Marketing Association defines, marketing is the process of planning and executing the concept, pricing, promotion and distribution of ideas, goods and service to create exchanges that satisfy individual and organizational objectives. Marketing was just selling the products to the customers that I was aware before was absolutely wrong. For that reason, this book helps me know that marketing is more than just selling. This is the first time that I have thought about what the marketing was all about seriously. I would like to write down what I learn and think about marketing from this book.

First of all, I would say that we cannot think of marketing without consideration of the psychological factors of human being. Because of this, marketer always has to think of how customers feel about every single promotion activities of the company including advertisement. They also have to know that small difference could result in what they never expect. Customers even accept it in a different way company doesn’t intend. For example, there are two petrol stations. One said that they are selling a liter of petrol at 1,000 won, and people can get 50 won discount as long as they pay by cash. However, other one said that they are selling a liter of petrol at 950 won, and people who use a credit card have to pay another 50 won. Actual price is exactly same, but there is something different. One should be the fact that the words used in a slogan, and other one is how customer feels when they see the slogan. People would be likely to go to the one that offers it as 1,000 won per a liter, because they can get discount as paying it by cash. However, people might feel that they receive a discriminative treatment when paying it by credit card in the petrol station that adds another 50 won. Accordingly, company has to be careful about marketing promotion activities including the use of the word based on psychological factor of human being. I would mention more about the use of a word.
