One World, One Hope, One Life’s goal is to eradicate the AIDS epidemic that is plaguing the African communities by instilling an aggressive three pronged approach within the country of Nigeria. We will place special emphasis upon Mother-to-Child transmission by making Antiretroviral medications available and affordable to hospitals in Nigeria. Working with partners, such as the World Health Organization (WHO), West African Health Organization (WAHO), and the Federal Minister of Health (FMOH), whom are already established in our region and by utilizing the global market strategy, we hope to make a significant impact on many lives in the Nigerian community.

In hopes of fulfilling the global social responsibility goal for Pfizer we have researched the prevalent issue of AIDS transmission from infected mothers to their unborn child within the ECOWAS region. ECOWAS, the Economic Community of West African States, consists of many countries; including Nigeria, Niger, Benin, Mali, Senegal, and Liberia.

Our primary goal is to create a wholly owned subsidiary in Nigeria and prevent the spread of the AIDS/HIV virus; especially, Mother-to-Child-Transmissions (MTCT). Though we now have the technology to prevent AIDS/HIV, most of the ECOWAS region, Nigeria, Niger, Benin, Mali, Senegal, and Liberia, is still suffering. This is mainly due to antiretroviral (ARV) medications being too expensive and difficult to obtain treatments. By providing the ARV medication and treatments to pregnant mothers we can prevent MTCT. After reviewing the prospective countries within the ECOWAS region, we recommend beginning in Nigeria. From all the countries that were considered, Nigeria has the most citizens infected by AIDS/HIV per capita and few can afford the medication. In the past, Nigeria has been known for its political instability and corruption; however, they have made tremendous steps in the last decade to solve this problem. We cannot know what will transpire in the future, so it would be the best time to enter now while they are rebuilding their economy
