대학생의 비판적 사고 향상 미디어 리터러시 교육에 관한 질적 메타분석 (Improving critical thinking among college students Qualitative meta-analysis of media literacy education)

초록

목적 본 연구는 현재 대학의 미디어 리터러시 교육 효과는 어떠한지 비판적 사고에 중점을 두고 이에 따른 시사점을 알아보고자 한다.
방법 대학에 개설된 미디어 리터러시 관련 교과목 연구물을 토대로 질적 메타분석방법을 활용하였다. 이에 분석 절차 7단계에 따라최종 선정된 6편의 질적 연구물인 교과목 사례를 중심으로 비판적 사고 향상을 위한 교육 방법의 긍정적 효과와 보완점을 통하여앞으로의 교육 방향성을 고찰하였다.
결과 가장 많이 진행된 교육 방법은 토론 중심 교육이었고, 그다음으로 미디어 분석, 영상 플랫폼 활용 교육, 비평적 글쓰기 순으로진행되고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 그 결과 교수자의 지도하에 이루어진 다양한 의견 공유가 비판 의식 함양에 많은 도움을 받은 반면, 토론의 특성상 자발적 주도로 학습 활동을 이끌어야 한다는 점에서 학습자 대부분이 어려움을 느끼는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 최신이슈나 관련 매체를 시의적절하게 선택하는 것이 중요한 것으로 나타났으나 공신력 없는 자료 노출과 편향성으로 인해 발생할 수있는 무논리로 인한 수업 집중력 저하가 문제점으로 드러났다. 무엇보다 비판적 사고를 위한 글쓰기 교육은 1편을 제외하고는 거의다루어지지 않았다는 점으로 미루어 볼 때 글쓰기 활성화 방안 마련이 시급함을 알 수 있다.
결론 본 연구에서는 대학생의 비판적 사고 향상을 위한 미디어 리터러시 교육에 대한 질적 메타분석을 통해 토론, 미디어 분석, 영상플랫폼, 비평적 글쓰기의 긍정적 효과 및 보완점을 도출하였다. 이에 따른 시사점으로는 융합 교육 콘텐츠 개발, 비판적 사고 과정설계, 평가 도구 개발 등이 있다. 현재 교육부나 교육 현장에서도 미디어 리터러시 교육의 중요성을 강조하고 있음에도 대학에서는여전히 체계적인 프로그램이 부족한 실정이다. 앞으로는 대학과 교수자의 협업을 통해 다양한 전공 교과목에서 학습자를 위한 미디어 리터러시 교육이 활성화되기를 기대한다.

영어초록

Objectives This study focused on critical thinking on the effects of media literacy education in universities and sought to find out the implications of this.
Methods A qualitative meta-analysis method was used based on studies on subjects related to media literacy opened in universities. Therefore, the future direction of education was considered through the positive effects and complementary points of the educational method for improving critical thinking, focusing on the cases of 6 qualitative research subjects finally selected according to the 7th stage of the analysis procedure.
Results While the sharing of various opinions under the guidance of the instructor was very helpful in cultivating a critical mind, most of the learners found it difficult to lead learning activities voluntarily due to the nature of the discussion. In addition, it was found that it was important to select the latest issues or related media in a timely manner, but the lack of concentration in class was revealed as a problem due to unreliable data exposure and irra tionality that could occur due to bias. Above all, considering that writing education for critical thinking has hardly been dealt with except for Part 1, it can be seen that it is urgent to prepare a plan to activate writing.
Conclusions In this study, through a qualitative meta-analysis of media literacy education for the improvement of college students' critical thinking, positive effects and complementary points of discussion, media analysis, video platform, and critical writing were derived. The implications of this include development of convergence ed ucational contents, design of critical thinking process, and development of evaluation tools. Even though the Ministry of Education and the field of education are currently emphasizing the importance of media literacy educa tion, universities still lack systematic programs. In the future, it is expected that media literacy education for learn ers will be activated in various major subjects through collaboration between universities and instructors.
