정서적 디자인 중 “본능적 디자인”에 대한 미학적 연구 (The Aesthetic Study of "the visceral design" in the emotional design)

초록

본 논문은 사용자가 정서적 디자인과 상호작용 할 때 교감되는 정서가 하고 있는 일에 어떻게 질 높은 성취를 하나를 미학적으로 고찰한다. 정서는 육체적인 반응이나 각성이라는 활성화를 본능적으로 동반하는 심리적 기제이다. 그리고 정서적 디자인은 인지 심리학자인 도널드 A. 노먼이 정서와 디자인을 조합해서 만든 용어이다. 그는 인간의 속성들이 두뇌의 서로 다른 세 가지 단계에서 비롯되었다는 데서 디자인의 차원을 구분하였다. 본능적 디자인, 행동적 디자인, 그리고 반성적인 디자인이다. 대부분의 디자인은 겉모습으로 먼저 우리에게 다가온다. 그런 면에서 외관에 장식을 한 장식 디자인이나 포장 디자인, 광고 디자인은 본능적 디자인으로 표현하면 효과적이다. 본능적 디자인은 생각하기 전과 의식하기 전의 단계로서 선천적으로 갖는 반응이나 동작을 수반한다. 이는 자연 생태계의 목적인 ‘번식과 생존’을 적용한 디자인이다. 그러한 목적을 위한 생태계의 원리는 ‘매력과 유혹, 다이나믹’이다. 그러한 원리가 본능적 디자인의 원리이다. 때문에 본능적 디자인에서 충격에서 오는 어필은 중요한 방법론이다. 이는 다중 감각으로 호소하는 감각적 표상이 오감을 자극하는 체험의 양상으로 나타난다. 그것은 미학의 학명인 Aesthetica가 감각을 의미하는 aisthesis에서 유래한 “감성적 인식의 학”이며, 본능적 디자인에 대한 미학적 연구는 시대와 맞물린 정당성을 보인다. 따라서 디자인 미학으로서 본능적 디자인은 인류의 공통감각을 바탕으로 하며, 그래서 지구촌에 편익을 주는 매트릭스로 이용될 수 있다.

영어초록

This study was intended to aesthetically study on and find out how the emotion created when a user interacts with the emotional design effects a high quality of achievement. Emotion can be defined as `psychic mechanism‘ in that activation so called such as physical response or disillusion is instinctively accompanied. `The emotional design’ is a term which was created by an cognitive psychologist, Donald A. Norman, while combining emotion and design. He classified dimensions of design from a standpoint that human attributes originated from the brains' three stages which differ each other. Those dimensions of design are of visceral design, behavioral design, and reflective design. Most of design, in the first place, approaches to us as an appearance. In this aspect, the decorative design which ornaments the outward appearance, or package design, or advertisement design would be effective when they are expressed as `visceral design‘. The visceral design is concerns with a step before thinking and feeling or being aware of, and it concern with the response and action natively produced. This is a kind of design which applies the purpose of the natural, ecological world, ’propagation and survival‘. And the principle of the natural, ecological world for that purpose is ’attraction, temptation, and dynamic‘. And such a principle is the principle of `the visceral design'. Therefore, the appeal by `impact’ in that design is of a kind of important methodology. This appears as an aspect of experiences that the sensible representations appealing by multisense stimulate the five senses. This is a sensitive, cognitive science in that a scientific name of aesthetics, `Aesthetica', origins from the `aisthesis' which means senses, and an aesthetical study on the visceral design shows the justifiability that goes in gear with this age. Therefore, `the visceral design‘ as the aesthetics of design bases on the common senses of mankind, and so, can be utilized as an matrix giving some benefits to the global villages.
