초록

The Chosun navy spent the winter at Goha-island(高下島), and was relocated to the Gogeum-island(古今島) in February 1598. The clean and sanitary environment helped the Chosun navy to reestablish just as a powerful stand against the Japanese as they have established earlier when they were located in the Hansan-island(閑山島).
Despite the strategic and historical importance, the final battle, namely the Noryang engagement(露梁海戰), was not fully highlighted in previous studies. The naval forces of the Ming dynasty, under command of admiral Jin Rin(陳璘) participated in the effort, and the battle was engaged between the Japanese forces, and the allied fleet of the Chosun and Ming navies. The allied fleet of Chosun and Ming naval forces started to fire upon the Japanese troops which were passing the Noryang channel to rescue the battalion under command of Konishi Yukinaga(小西行長) trapped at the Yaegyo-seong(曳橋城). The battle became more intense when the entire Japanese troops were trapped in the Gwaneumpo(觀音浦) area. The engagement was ended as more than 200 ships of the Japanese navy were destroyed by the victorious efforts of the allied fleet. The engagement also marked the end of the entire war, which lasted almost 7 years. The efforts demonstrated by the Chosun naval forces were nothing but extraordinary, and eventually encouraged the later generations to insist or support strategies taking maritime defenses very seriously.
