문화 차이에 따른 디지털 미디어아트 조형언어 인식 비교 -한국인, 중국인, 호주인을 중심으로- (Comparison of the Perception of Formative Elements on Digital Media Art by Cross‐Cultural Differences-focused on Korean, Chinese, and Australian-)

초록

디지털 기반 창작 활성화와 전시 수요가 증가하면서 전세계에서 문화적 환경이 다른 사람들이 동일하거나 유사한 디지털 미디어아트를 경험하게 되었고, 문화 차이에 따른 작품 수용에도 영향을 미치게되었다. 이 연구는 디지털 미디어아트 작품 감상에 있어서 문화적 배경의 차이가 영향을 미치는가를탐색하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 연구방법은 디지털 미디어아트에 대한 자기보고식 보고서 내용 분석에근거한 집단간의 인식 비교이다. 구체적으로, 집단주의적 가치관이 뚜렷한 한국과 중국, 개인주의적가치관이 뚜렷한 호주의 참가자들에게 모션그래픽 기반 디지털 미디어아트 작품의 조형언어에 대한인식을 자유롭게 기술하게 하고 그 내용을 비교 연구하였다. 조사과정에서, 각 국가의 참여자들에게 5 가지의 디지털 미디어아트 작품을 감상하도록 하고 작품을 설명하는 서술문을 수집하였다. 수집된 자료를 번역하고, 문맥을 구와 절로 분리한 후, 디지털 미디어아트의 조형언어로 정의한 공간과 매체, 움직임, 형상, 색상으로 레이블링하였다. 국가별 그리고 작품별 서술 내용을 검토하였으며, 작품에 대한사고에 있어서 구성요소의 순서를 비교하고, 국가별 구성요소를 인식하는 비중을 통계적으로 비교하였다. 연구 결과, 첫째, 모든 국가의 감상자들 대다수가 공간과 매체에 대해서 가장 먼저 언급하였으며, 디지털 미디어아트를 설명에서 형상에 관련된 내용을 가장 많이 언급하였다. 둘째, 한국, 중국, 호주 감상자들이 인식한 조형언어 비중을 분석한 결과, 호주 감상자는 한국과 중국의 감상자보다 움직임에 관한 서술 비중이 높게 나타났다. 이는 개인주의 가치관의 경향을 나타내는 집단의 감상자들은 움직임을 더 민감하게 인식함을 나타낸다.

영어초록

As digital-based creative revitalization and the demand for exhibitions increase, people from different cultural environments around the world experience the same or similar digital media art, which has an impact on the acceptance of works according to cultural differences. The purpose of this study is to explore whether differences in cultural background affect the appreciation of digital media art works. The research method is a comparison of perceptions between groups based on self-reported data content analysis on digital media art. Participants from Korea and China, with distinct collectivist values, and Australia with distinct individualistic values, were allowed to freely describe their perceptions of the formative language of motion graphic-based digital media art works, and comparatively studied the contents. To proceed with the study, five motion graphic-based digital media art works were presented from two cultural groups (Korean, Chinese vs. Australian) with a high contrast between individualism and collectivism values, and participants from each country were able to appreciate the works. An explanatory statement was written. After translating the collected data and separating the context into phrases and clauses, the data was individually labeled with the visual perceptual information components of digital media art. The contents of the narratives by country and each work was reviewed, the order of the elements in thinking about the work was compared, and the percentage of recognizing the elements by country was compared statistically. As a result of the study, first, most of the viewers of all countries mentioned space and media first, and the contents related to form were mentioned the most in the explanation of digital media art. Second, as a result of analyzing the percentage of visual perception information perceived by Korean, Chinese, and Australian viewers, Australian viewers showed a higher proportion of descriptions about movement than viewers in other countries.
