R&D활동과 기술혁신이 경영성과에 미치는 영향: 국내 제조업과 서비스업의 비교연구 (The Impact of R&D Activities, Technological Innovation and Financial Performance : A comparison of Manufacturing and service Firms in Korea)

초록

기술발전과 더불어 글로벌 경쟁이 가속화되면서 기존 제품과 서비스의 부가가치가 급속히 하락함에 따라기업은 갈수록 혁신을 중요시하고 있다. 따라서 생산성 높은 제조공정설계, 시장성과 향상, 고객들의 긍정적인반응 추구를 통한 지속적 경쟁 우위 구축의 필요성이 갈수록 대두되고 있으며 혁신은 기업 전략의 불가결한구성요소로 자리매김하고 있다. 본 연구는 과학기술정책연구원 에서 주관하는 2014년 한국기업혁신조사자료를 활용하여 혁신활동참여제조업체 2,345개와 서비스업체 950개를 대상으로 기업의 기술혁신활동(내부R&D, 외부R&D, 공동R&D)이 기술혁신성과(제품혁신 및 공정혁신) 및 재무성과에 미치는 영향을비교·분석하였다. 본 연구에서는 연구 가설 검증을 위해 회귀분석을 사용하였으며 연구결과는 다음과 같다.
첫째. 제조업체의 내부 R&D 및 공동 R&D는 제품혁신에 정(+)의 영향을 미치고 내부 R&D는 공정혁신에부(-)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 공동 R&D 및 외부 R&D는 공정혁신에 정(+)의 영향을 미치고공정혁신은 재무성과에 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째. 서비스업체는 내부 R&D만 제품혁신에정(+)의 영향을 미치고 공동R&D는 공정혁신에 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 내부R&D는공정혁신에 부(-)의 영향을 미치고 공정혁신은 재무적 성과에 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째.
제조업과 서비스업 차이 비교할 때는 제조업체 및 서비스업체의 혁신활동에 공동 R&D, 외부 R&D은제품혁신에 미치는 영향 차이가 있다. 내부 R&D 및 외부 R&D는 공정혁신에 미치는 영향 차이가 있다.
내부R&D는 제품혁신에 미치는 영향 차이 및 공동 R&D는 공정혁신에 미치는 영향 차이가 없다. 제품혁신및 공정혁신이 재무성과에 대한 영향 차이가 있다는 것으로 나타내었다. 연구의 한계점 다음과 같다. 첫째, 본 연구 기술혁신을 고려하여 기업의 경영성과와의 관계를 분석하였다. 향후에는 관리혁신도 고려하여서 기업경영성과와의 관계를 규명할 필요가 있다. 둘째, 본 연구에는 기업의 형태, 규모 등을 구분하지 않고 분석을실시하였는데 향후에는 이를 구분해서 유형별로 분석하여 유형에 따른 차이점에 대해 알아 볼 필요가 있다.
셋째, 본 연구는 OECD의 Oslo Manual에 혁신통계자료를 이용해서 국내의 기업대상만 분석하였다. 향후연구는 본 자료 및 기타 국가와의 비교연구를 분석해 볼 필요가 있다.

영어초록

The rapid development of science and technology has shortened the replacement cycle of products, and thus the additional value of some existing products has declined gradually. To adapt to the fierce market competition, companies need to carry through continues technology innovation to produce or upgrade to new products so that they could meet the ever-changing needs of consumers and gain larger market share. In this case, the ability of technological innovation appears to be even more important to companies. Recently, many OECD countries are trying to explore the impact of innovation on enterprises and actively expand the input into enterprise innovation to gain more revenue.
This study is based on the date of 2014 Korean Corporate Innovation Survey conducted by the Science and Technology Policy Institute (STEPI), and selected 2345 manufacturing enterprises and 950 service enterprises, which had participated in the innovation activities. The study also analyzed the influence of the innovation activities(Internal R&D, Collaborative R&D and External R&D) exerted on innovation achievements(Product innovation and Process innovation) and financial performance, and compared the differences between the manufacturing industry and the service industry. In order to test the hypothesis of this study, SPSS 22.0 was used to analyze the data. The results of the study are as follows: First, in the manufacturing industry, both internal R&D and collaborative R&D have a positive effect on product innovation, both collaborative R&D and external R&D have a positive effect on process innovation and process innovation has a positive effect on firms' financial performance.
Second, in the service industry, only internal R&D has a positive effect on product innovation, and collaborative R&D has a positive effect on process innovation. Internal R&D has a negative effect on process. Process R&D has a positive effect on firms' financial performance.
Third, we used the Z-test analysis to compare the differences between manufacturing and service industries.
The results shows, there were differences between the relationship of collaborative R&D and external R&D on product innovation of manufacturing and service industries, and there have a difference relationship of internal R&D and external R&D on process innovation between two industries. There is no difference relationship of internal R&D on process innovation between two industries. There were differences between the relationship of product innovation and process innovation on firms' financial performance.
The last part of this thesis explain the disadvantages of the research and future research are concluded as follows. First, innovations involve technology innovation including product and process innovations and management innovation including organization and market innovations. The research starts from a series of analyses on the innovation activities closely associated with technology innovation, and future research will consider the effect of management innovation on enterprises corporate performance. Second, the research makes an analysis on 3295 manufacturing and service enterprises, and distinguishes the type, scale and listing of enterprises. Future research may separately analyze each type of enterprises and discuss the differences among them. Third, the research designs the questionnaire based on the internationally recognized OECD Oslo Manual, and involves internationally comparable and highly reliable statistics of innovation.
Future research may discuss the differences between countries in innovation through comparison with other countries.
