감성과 이성의 관계를 통해 본칸트의 악 개념 (The Study of Kant’s Conception of Evilthrough in the Relation of Sensitivity(sensuous nature) and Reason)

초록

이 글은 서양 철학사에서 근본악 개념을 통해 악에 대한 독특한 지평을 마련한 칸트의 악 개념을 이해하고, 악 개념의 주관적 근거와 주관적 동기에 초점을 맞추어 논의를 전개하는 데에 일차적 목적이 있다.
칸트는 악을 야기하는 주관적 근거와 주관적 동기를 중시하는데, 인간이 선악을 행하고 선악에 준하는 준칙들을 선택하는 주관적 동기는 감성이냐 이성이냐라는 양자택일의 문제는 아니라고 본다.
칸트의 주 관심사는 도덕적 가치 평가가 가능한 근본악의 근원을 파헤치는 것이다. 그러나 근본악의 근원을 추적하다 보면 근본악이 악으로의 자연적 성향이라는 점과 악의 주관적 근거가 단순히 동기 차이 문제가 아니라 동기들 간의 가치 전도 내지 종속 관계 전도 성향이라는 점이 드러난다.
종속 관계 전도 성향을 이해하려면, 소질과 성향의 관계에 대한 조명이 필요하다. 인간에게 주어져 있는 자연적 소질은 근본적으로는 선하지만, 선한 소질을 극단적으로 사용할 때 악이 발생하며, 이러한 악들이 소질적 악이다. 소질적 악 자체는 근본악과 관련이 없으며 발생 근거나 발생 동기도 다르지만, 그러나 소질적 악의 주관적 근거를 밝히는 과정에서 근본악의 근거를 설명할 수 있는 여지들이 생긴다. 칸트는 이에 기초하여 이성, 소질, 성향의 연관성을 설명하고, 자유의지와 심정의 관계, 자유 의지와 마음의 관계를 살피면서 근본악의 근거를 밝혀낸다. 근본악은 이성과 소질의 관계, 이성과 성향의 관계, 소질과 성향의 관계를 통해서만 주관적 근거를 드러낼 수 있다.
그러므로 이 글은 근본악 개념이 발생하는 주관적 근거와 주관적 동기는 감성과 이성의 관계를 통해, 성향과 소질의 관계 및 소질과 이성의 관계를 살펴볼 때 파악 가능하다는 점을 주장하며, 그 주장을 논증하는 것을 궁극 목적으로 삼는다.

영어초록

This essay has three aims for the further understanding about Kant’s conception of evil that make the peculiar viewpoint through the history of Western philosophy.
First, which sorts of evil has Kant in his later book, Religion within the Boundaries of Mere Reason? Kant classify evil into two large groups, that is, radical evil and vices that predisposition bring forth.
Second, What is the evil that Kant concentrate on the concern? Kant has the concern about the radical evil in view of moral evil. But he has the peculiar meaning and determination about the conception of radical evil, i.e. moral evil. For him, the good has the meaning of the subjective ground of the adoption of the maxims through the free power of choice. The evil has the meaning of the subjective ground of the adoption that get against the maxims through the free power of choice.
Third, what is the first subjective ground of the adoption and action of radical evil? whether is the reason? Whether is the sensitivity(sensuous nature)? Kant make research in the first subjective ground of the adoption of maxims that be adopted through the free power of choice. He does not select one alternative. He connects the reason with the sensitivity(sensuous nature), i.e. predisposition. Furthermore, Kant seek after the ground that give rise to the action of predisposition, and he assert that the ground which bring about the action of predisposition is the propensity. Kant write down the first subjective ground of evil in view of the natural propensity to evil and, that is, the relation of the original predisposition to good(predisposition to personality) with the natural propensity to evil. It has the meaning of perversity, in other words, propensity of the perversity of a grade of ranks. He explains the first subjective ground of radical evil in this way, as the mind that put down the reasonable subjective ground after the sensuous ground.
This essay has the ultimate aim that make the first subjective ground of radical evil to search for the relation of sensitivity(sensuous nature) with reason, of propensity and predisposition with reason.
