영화 <마더/안드로이드>를 통해 인공지능의 역습 고찰 (A Study on A.I.’s Counterattack through the Movie Mother/Android)

초록

The purpose of this study is to examine the anxiety about the reality of coexistence between robots and humans and the possibility of coexistence through interaction through the movie Mother/Android directed by Mattson Tomlin. The movie Mother/Android presents the process in which androids created to provide convenience to humans commit brutal human massacre and recreate the situation of the ‘Apocalypse’. The movie shows that the superior intellectual abilities of androids go beyond the simple replacement of human labor and the possibility of mutual survival competition. The audience experiences vague fears that advanced technology can bring as they imagine the situation of ‘technological unemployment’ where human jobs are replaced with the introduction of artificial intelligence A.I. technology in industrial settings. Current artificial intelligence technology has important differences from the problems of past robots or automation technology. Current A.I. technology possesses various problem-solving abilities as well as argumentation, cognition, reasoning, and learning. The intellectual abilities of these A.I. technologies include the possibility of entering professional fields such as doctors, lawyers, and accountants, and the possibility of replacing humans. The possibility of replacing humans, along with scenes in movies where androids with intellectual abilities rebel or perceive themselves as superior to humans, creates negative perceptions and fears about coexistence. The value of the movie Mother/Android lies not in its excellent visuals, interesting story, and dynamic fun, but in the detailed and specific presentation of the various emotions and pains that humans can experience in the age of advanced technology.
