신시기(新时期) 베이징(北京) 시(诗)의 지역성 고찰 (A Study on the Regional Characteristics of Poetry in Beijing during the New Period)

본 논문은 1970년대 말부터 1980년대에 이르는 시기 동안 베이징 시단의 창작 경향과 그 형성 배경을 살펴보았다. 특히 문화대혁명 이후 등장한 몽롱시(朦胧诗)는 기존 당대문학의 이념 중심성에 대한 반발 속에서 자아와 인간성 회복을 지향하였으며, 《금천(今天)》을 중심으로 활동한 시인들은 베이징이라는 공간의 역사성과 정치성을 문학적으로 재구성하며 시적 정체성을 구축해 나갔다. 이와 함께, 베이징대학은 오사문학사(五四文学社)와 《미명호(未名湖)》를 통해 5.4의 정신을 현대적으로 계승하고자 하였고, 시촨(西川), 뤄이허(骆一禾), 하이즈(海子)로 대표되는 ‘베이징대학 삼총사’는 새로운 시 세계의 창조, 공동체적 책임의식, 주재자적 시인이라는 특징을 공유하며 중국 현대시의 새로운 흐름을 예비하였다. 이들의 창작은 정치적 통제와 문학 제도상의 한계 속에서도 도덕적 공백과 사상적 황폐를 넘어서려는 집단적 실천이었다. 특히 하이즈는 농촌 출신 지식인으로서 농민의 희생을 문명화의 전제로 인식하며, 세계화의 흐름 속 중국 사회의 구조적 모순을 시적 언어로 비판하고자 했다. 베이징 시단의 이러한 재구성과 베이징대학의 문학 실험은 단지 지역적 의미를 넘어 인류 보편의 문제와 역사적 책임을 사유하는 문학적 시도로 확장되었으며, 이는 베이징을 사유와 창조가 교차하는 미학적 공간으로 탈바꿈시킨 중요한 계기였다고 할 수 있다.

영어초록

This study has examined the characteristics of poetic creation in Beijing from the late 1970s through the 1980s. In the aftermath of the Cultural Revolution, the emergence of Misty Poetry (Menglongshi) marked a critical turning point in rejecting the ideological dominance of contemporary literature and instead pursuing individual subjectivity and the recovery of human values. Poets associated with Jintian (Today) played a central role in reshaping the literary identity of Beijing by reinterpreting its historical and political space. At the same time, Peking University actively sought to modernize the legacy of the May Fourth Movement through campus literature, with the Wusi Literary Society and Weiming Lake journal supporting student writers. Poets such as Xi Chuan, Luo Yihe, and Haizi—often referred to as the “Three Musketeers of Peking University”—shared three defining characteristics: a self-aware authorial presence, a sense of communal responsibility, and the creation of a new poetic world, thus anticipating a new poetic turn in 1980s Chinese literature. Their creative practices represented not just personal experimentation, but collective engagement with the moral void and intellectual desolation that followed the Cultural Revolution. In particular, Haizi, as a rural intellectual, depicted the sacrifices of peasants as the foundation of modern civilization and critique the structural contradictions of a globalizing and materializing Chinese society through poetic language. The reorganization of the Beijing poetry scene and the emergence of campus poetry at Peking University extended beyond a regional framework, becoming a serious literary response to universal human concerns and historical responsibility. Ultimately, these efforts transformed Beijing into a space of aesthetic experimentation and philosophical reflection at a pivotal moment in Chinese literary history.
