초록

현대의 상업시설은 사용자의 지각·인지적 특성, 라이프스타일, 트렌드, 지역의 문화와 예술, 엔터테인먼트적 요소가 가미된 창의적 디자인을 통해 브랜드 가치를 높임은 물론, 도시 기능과 질을 높이는데 결정적 역할을 하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 사용자의 지각·인지에 어필하는 쇼핑센터의 표현 특성이 건물의 이미지 구축과 밀접한 관계가 있다는 전제 하에, 복합문화 쇼핑센터가 도시의 아이콘이 되고 있는 저드 파트너쉽의 일본과 홍콩 소재 6사례를 환경 지각·인지 이론에 기초하여 장소의 정체성, 건물의 물리적 특성, 맥락적 특성에 대하여 표현방법과 공간인지 방법을 분석하였다. 이를 위해 문헌과 웹사이트 검색을 통한 내용분석과 현장조사를 실시하였다. 분석 결과, 저드 파트너쉽의 프로젝트에서 장소의 특성은 프로젝트의 정체성 구현과 물리적 특성 표현을 위한 근거가 되고 있었다. 건물의 정체성은 독창적 형태, 공간 요소의 변화와 대비 등을 통해 표현 특성으로 나타나고 시각적 경험, 시각적 은유를 유발하며, 결과적으로 내비게이션/정보요소를 이용한 길찾기, 공간의 추론, 은유를 이용한 길찾기 수단이 되고 있다. 건물의 물리적 특성은 명료한 건물구조, 공간의 차폐, 용도의 집중, 명확한 동선으로 표현되고, 근거리에서는 주로 감각적 경험 및 교류로 공간을 인지하고 원거리와 대규모 공간에서는 주로 시각적 경험을 통해 공간을 추론하도록 하고 있다.

영어초록

The creative design of modern commercial facilities integrates the perceptive and cognitive characteristics of the user, including life styles, trends, local culture & art and entertainment elements. This not only enhances the brand value of the structure but also plays a key role in advancing the quality as well as the functionality of the city in whichwherethe building is located. On the assumption that the expression method of a cultural complex shopping center that is appealing to the perception and cognition of the user is closely linked with the establishment of the building image, this study, based on the theory of environment, cognition and perception, analyzed six of the Jerde-designed iconic cultural complex shopping centers located in Japan and Hong Kong. The aim was to find out their expression method as well as the space recognition method in terms of the identity of the location, the physical characteristics of a building and the contextual characteristics. This study is based on field researchas well as content analysis by reviewing literature and online research. We found that the contextual characteristics of a location are the basis for the realization of project identity and the expression of physical characteristics. The identity of a building is expressed through its unique format as well as the alternation and the contrastswithinin its spatial elements, thusinviting visual/auditory experiences as well as visual metaphors. Subsequently, it becomes a useful tool for finding directions via GPS/information elements or metaphoric expressions, and for spatial reasoning. The physical characteristics of a building are expressed through the clear structure of a building, the blockage, intensive use and clear traffic lines. At a short distance, the space is recognized by sensory experiences or exchanges while from a farlong distance, it is recognized through visual experiences.
