초록

(연구배경 및 목적) 발크리쉬나 도쉬 건축에 나타난 조형적 특성은 자연의 유기적 관계성과 인간의 심리적 순수지향성을 근원으로 하고 있다. 근, 현대는 제4차 산업혁명의 시대로 정보통신의 융합이 빠르게 진행되고 있으며 차세대 미래 산업의 발달은 급속도로 발전하고 진보되고 있다. 급변하는 정보통신의 발달과 과학 기술적 건축 재료의 넘쳐나는 물질적 발전은 공공의 국가 공동체는 물론이며 개개인의 생활환경 요소까지 커다란 영향을 미치고 있다. 인간의 건축공간은 자연이라는 선천적 환경과 인간이 살아가는 사회, 문화의 정치 구조를 중심으로 이루어져 있다. 한편 자연과학의 발달은 도시환경의 진보와 문화적 역사의 과정에 지대한 영향을 미치고 있으며 또한 인간이라는 주체와 건축공간이라는 대상과 물질은 서로의 공유적 상관관계를 더욱 밀접하게 지속시키고 있다. 인도건축의 전통적인 지역 재료는 근현대 과학기술과는 상관없이 물질 본연의 근원적인 속성을 가지고 물성자체의 성질을 발현한다. 또한 도쉬 건축에서 나타나는 인도의 건축양식은 지역 및 기후에 따라 그 특성이 적절하게 잘 드러나고 있다. 그 중에서도 공동체가 거주하는 집합주거에서 인도의 경제적이며 합리적 건축의 실리적 기반이 특히 잘 표현하고 있다. 위와 같은 인도의 문화적 배경과 함께 2018년 건축계의 노벨상이라는 프리츠커상 수상자로 선정된 인도의 건축가 도쉬의 지역적 특성과 맥락주의의 본질적 요소의 표현특성을 연구하고자 한다. (연구방법) 우선적으로 도쉬의 대표적인 건축 작품들 9가지를 모델로 지역 환경의 맥락 및 공공의 사회 문화적 관계성을 중심으로 분석 연구하려 한다. 첫 번째로 지역 환경적 요소의 세밀한 고찰과 같은 맥락으로 건축의 시간성의 관점으로 바라본 지속적인 특성을 물질적 요소와 비물질적 요소로서 연구하려 한다. 그럼으로 도쉬 건축의 각 작품 사례의 맥락주의적 표현특성을 분석하여 사회문화적, 기후 환경적, 지역 공공적 공간 표현 요소의 방법론을 도출하려 한다. 두 번째로 연구 대상의 선정 및 한정은 단위세대, 집합세대, 공공시설, 교육시설을 중심으로 사회 문화적 요소와 도쉬 건축철학의 성향을 분석 연구하려 한다. (결과) 이에 본 연구에서는 도쉬의 인도건축 특성을 문화적 맥락, 환경적맥락, 공공적 맥락을 기반으로 분석 연구하였다. 그 결과 열려있음, 비워있음의 공간과 광장의 공간은 개인과 공동체 소통의 관계에 지속적이며 확장에 대한 기회를 주었으며 기후 환경의 유기적 자연 요소는 건축공간에 더욱 생명력 있고 심미적 공간을 연출하였다. 또한 근, 현대 도시건축의 경제적이며, 합리적인 공익적 건축의 맥락적 요소를 표현하였다. (결론) 도쉬는 지역건축의 맥락적 성격을 가지며 인간사회 공동체의 관계성에 관심을 갖는다. 또한 인도의 전통건축에 대한 문화를 계승하며 현대건축의 문화와 자연스럽게 결합시켰다. 최소한의 기능성으로 건축 양식에 대한 역사와 문화를 깊이 있게 발현하였으며 인도의 서민들의 삶에 사회적 수준의 질을 높이려 지대한 노력을 다하는 건축가이다. 또한 자연의 요소인 공기, 채광등 모든 자연요소를 적용 연출하여 공간에 생명력의 깊이를 더하였다.

영어초록

(Background and Purpose) The formative characteristics of the architecture of Balkrishna Doshi are based on the organic relationship of nature and the pure psychological direction of human beings. In the modern and contemporary age, the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, convergence between information and communication has been rapidly achieved, and next-generation future industry is also extremely well developed and advanced. Human architectural spaces are organized around nature, an innate environment, and social, cultural, and political structures in which human beings live. Meanwhile, the development of natural science has had an enormous effect on the advancement of the urban environment and the process of cultural history. Furthermore, the architecture of Doshi properly shows the characteristics of the Indian architectural style, depending on the locality and climate. The utilitarian aspects of Indian economic and reasonable architecture, in particular, are well manifested in the collective housing in which communities reside. This study aims to examine the cultural background of India and the expressive characteristics of essential contextualistic factors considered by Doshi, an Indian architect selected as the winner of the Pritzker Prize, referred to as the “Nobel prize” in architectural circles. (Method) This study initially attempts to analyze the representative architectural works of Doshi with nine models, in the context of the local environment and public social and cultural relationships. First, it examines sustainable characteristics of material and immaterial factors, from an architecturally temporal perspective, based on an elaborate consideration of local environmental factors. It therefore uses sociocultural, climate environmental, and local public spatial expressive methodology, by analyzing contextualistic expressive characteristics. Second, it analyzes sociocultural factors and tendencies of Doshi's architectural philosophy, based on unit and group household, and public and educational facilities, for selecting and defining the subjects. (Results) This study therefore analyzed the Indian architectural characteristics of Doshi’s work in the cultural, environmental, and public context. The findings show that open and void spaces and square spaces provide opportunities for sustainable extensions of the communication relation between individuals and communities, while organic natural factors of the climate environment produce more vivid and aesthetic space, and, moreover, express the economic, reasonable, and public architectural contextual factors of modern and contemporary urban architecture. (Conclusions) Doshi was interested in the contextual nature of local architecture and its relationship with the human social community. Furthermore, he succeeded Indian traditional architectural culture and naturally combined it with that of contemporary architecture. He was an architect who profoundly revealed the history and culture of Indian architectural style with minimal functionality and made a tremendous effort to enhance the social and life quality of ordinary Indian people.
