100세 시대와 죽음에 대한 성찰의 필요성 (A Study on The Age of 100 and the Need for Death Reflection)

초록

My purpose in this paper is to justify the necessity of death reflection. Death reflection is one way of solving the problems of hospice in current medical fields. Our society prepares for the age of 100-year, but unfortunately is interested only in health and economic aspects. This paper emphasizes the importance of death reflection in criticizing this aspect of our society. So in the chapter 2 I deal with the age of 100- year and the culture of death in our society, in the chapter 3 present philosophical study of death, and in the chapter 4 deal with the necessity and lessons of death reflection. In the consideration of 100-year long life, the death is being forgotten in our society, even if we already have entered the era of aging society. It is not good.
Korea's death quality index, assessed by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), is the lowest in the world. Without further treatment, what we need to rely on is not the state of the hi-tech medical devices, but the acceptance of death. It is the greatest tragedy for a human being to die without a chance to organize the end of his life, without a chance to give meaning to his life and death. To prevent this tragedy, it is the reflection of death that we must prepare like an essential item in the age of aging. Through death reflection, we can face death, understand it properly, and have willingness to accept death, so we can happily spend old age.
