초록

이 연구는 매체 환경과 문학 조건의 변화 속에서 고전문학 교육이 어떻게 대응해야 하는지에 대한 근본적인 물음을 제기하고, 『만세보(萬歲報)』 해동영언(海東永言)을 자료로 과거 문학 활동의 양상을 추적함으로써 그 방향성을 모색하고자 하였다. 100여년 전의 근대이행기와 현재 모두 문명 전환 시기였다는 점에서, 『만세보』 해동영언을 통해 사회 변화에 대한 문학의 대응 양상과 활동을 구체적으로 살펴보고 대응 방향을 도출하려 했다.
이 연구에서 해동영언은 당시 애국과 계몽의 사회적 요구에 대한 고전문학의 대응이자 문학 활동의 한 실현태로, 변화하는 문학 환경과 조건 속에서 고전문학의 대응을 모색하기 위한 효과적인 자료에 해당한다. 이러한 기획과 의도에 따라 가집에 대한 일반적인 방법론 대신 매체와 양식의 측면에 초점을 맞추고, 대화적 관계 속에서 접속 환경과 소통의 구조를 살폈다.
접속 환경의 변화 측면에서는 인쇄 매체상의 독서물로의 변화에도 불구하고 여전히 노래하기로서 구술적 향유 관습에 기반하여 수용되는 데 주목하였다. 격앙된 감정의 노출, 현장감 있는 전달을 통한 사회적 의미의 확인 및 강화, 개별적인 단위성과 독립성을 통한 완결 구조 등을 통해 전달과 설득의 효과를 제고하는 중요한 기제로 작동하고 있음을 확인하였다.
소통 구조의 변화 측면에서는 일간지로 대표되는 문학 환경 속에서 읽기를 통해 공론장이 형성되는 변화가 나타났다. 작품에 대한 특정의 관점과 해설을 전달하는 매개 텍스트로서 비평이 등장하여 작품의 의미를 선택적으로 포착하여 전면화하였고, 이를 통해 특정 방향으로의 이해와 감상을 수렴하고 견인하였다. 또한 인쇄 매체를 통해 다수에게 소통, 유통됨으로써 개인 차원의 이해에 그치지 않고 사회적 공론의 형성을 유도하였다. 이처럼 사회적 확산을 위한 공론장으로서의 역할 수행은 근본적으로 시조 작품이 사회적 표상으로서의 가치를 함축하고 있는 데서 비롯된다.
이러한 탐구 결과를 바탕으로, 미래 탈인쇄매체 환경 속에서 고전시가의 접속 환경에 대한 탐색, 복잡계로서 소통 구조의 변화 문제를 과제로 제시하였다.

영어초록

This study raises fundamental questions about how classical literature education should respond to changes in media environment and literary conditions, and uses 『Mansebo(萬歲報)』 Haedongyeongeon(海東永言) as data to examine past literary activities. The direction was sought by tracing a pattern. Considering both the modern transition period about 100 years ago and the present were periods of civilizational transition, this study attempted to specifically examine the patterns and activities of literature’s response to social change through 『Mansebo(萬歲報)』 Haedongyeongeon(海東永言) and derive a direction for response.
In this study, Haedongyeongeon(海東永言) is classical literature’s response to the social demands of patriotism and enlightenment and a form of literary activity, and is an effective material for seeking the response of classical literature in changing literary environments and conditions. In accordance with this plan and intention, this study focused on the aspects of media and style instead of the general methodology for song collections, and examined the access environment and structure of communication within dialogic relationships.
In terms of changes in the access environment, despite the change in print media as a reading material, it was still accepted as a song based on the custom of oral enjoyment. It was confirmed that it operates as an important mechanism to enhance the effectiveness of communication and persuasion through exposure of intense emotions, the confirmation and strengthening of social meaning through realistic delivery, and completion of structure through individual unity and independence.
In terms of changes in communication structure, there was a change in the formation of a public sphere through reading in a literary environment represented by daily newspapers. Criticism emerged as an intermediary text that conveyed a specific perspective and commentary on a work, selectively capturing and foregrounding the meaning of the work, and through this, converging and driving understanding and appreciation in a specific direction. Moreover, by being communicated and distributed to the majority through print media, it not only led to understanding at the individual level but also the formation of a social public opinion. In this way, its role as a public forum for social diffusion fundamentally stems from the fact that sijo works imply value as social representations.
Based on these results, the exploration of the access environment for classical poetry in the future post-print media environment and the change in communication structure as a complex system were presented as tasks.
