『부장양문록』의 다층적 성격과 장편화 방식 (A Study on the Multilayer personality and long storytelling methods of 『BooChangYangMunrok』)

초록

본 연구는 『부장양문록』의 서사적 특성과 다층적 성격을 살펴보고 나아가 장편화 방식과 주제의식까지 고찰하는 데 목적을 두고 있다. 『부장양문록』은 부계와 장벽계, 장원흥과 부월혜라는 복수의 남녀주인공들이 등장하여 다층적인 성격을 보이는 작품이다. 이때 1～3권까지는 장벽계의 영웅담을 기저로 부계와 장벽계의 결연담이 중점적으로 서술되고, 4～5권은 부월혜의 수난담을 중심으로 이야기가 전개된다. 그렇기 때문에 『부장양문록』의 다층적 성격을 정확히 파악하기 위해서는 1～3권과 4～5권을 양분하여 각각의 서사적 특성을 살펴야 한다.
먼저 『부장양문록』의 1～3권에 해당하는 전반부의 영웅담과 결연담의 양상을 확인하였다. 영웅담은 여성주인공인 장벽계의 일대기로 전개되면서 일반적인 영웅담의 순차 구조와 군담의 전개 시기에서 차이를 보인다. 『부장양문록』의 영웅담은 장벽계가 응과급제 이전 전란에 참여하면서 군담이 축약적으로 등장하며, 전반부 서사는 장벽계의 영웅담 보다 부계-장벽계-윤선강으로 이어지는 결연 과정을 중점적으로 서술한다. 이 과정에서 『부장양문록』의 여성영웅소설적 면모를 확인함은 물론 한 남성 대 두 여성의 결연 과정을 그리는 남장결연담을 통해 재자가인소설의 면모 또한 확인할 수 있다.
1～3권에서 영웅담과 결연담을 중점적으로 서술했다면, 4～5권에서는 부월혜를 중심으로 여성수난담이 중점적으로 서술된다. 부월혜는 다양한 고난을 당하면서도 끝내 장원흥에 대한 절개를 지키고 있다. 여기서 가문소설에서 흔히 볼 수 있는 서사 관습이 구조적으로 형상화된다. 즉 『부장양문록』은 전, 후반부에서 여성주인공의 영웅담과 결연담, 그리고 여성수난담을 통해 여성영웅소설과 가문소설, 재자가인소설의 서사 구조를 유기적으로 결합하는 복합적인 특성을 만드는 것이다.
한편, 『부장양문록』에서는 복수의 결연담이 서사 전반에서 기저로 작용하고 있다. 이들 복수의 결연담은 서로의 서사에 대한 개입을 최소화하며, 개별적으로 진행되면서도, 교차적으로 서술돼 장편의 분량을 확보한다. 특히 서술의 중심이 부계와 장벽계의 결연담에서 장원흥과 부월혜의 서사로 교차하며 자연스럽게 이어지는데, 이러한 유기적 흐름의 중심에는 위왕 서사가 자리하고 있다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study is to examine the epic and multilayered characteristics of 『BuJangYangMunrok』, and to further examine the feature-length method and subject-consciousness. 『BuJangYangMunrok』shows the aspect of multi-layered work featuring many male and female characters. In the first to third volumes, the story of marriage between the "Bu Gye" and the "Jang Byeokgye" is told based on the hero story of the "Jang Byeokgye" and the story is told mainly in the fourth to fifth volumes. Therefore, in order to accurately grasp the multi-layered characteristics of 『BuJangYangMunrok』, volumes 1 to 3 and 4-5 must be separated to examine the epic characteristics of each volume.
First of all, we checked the aspects of the hero story and the marriage story in the first half, which corresponds to the first and third volumes of 『BuJangYangMunrok』. Hero stories are developed as a generation of female protagonists, and there is a difference between the general structure of hero stories and the order of war stories. The hero story of『BuJangYangMunrok』 is a shortened version of the story of the war while the heroine participates, and the first part of the story focuses on the marriage process leading to the “Bu Gye-Jang Byeokgye-Yoon Seongang” rather than the hero story of the heroine. In the process, the story of a man-dressed marriage, which depicts the marriage process between one man and two women, as well as the story of 『BuJangYangMunrok』 female hero novel, can be confirmed.
If the story of a hero and a marriage story is told in the first to third volumes, the story of Bu Wolhye female hardships is described in the fourth to fifth volumes. Bu Wolhye has been through various hardships and is finally protecting her love for Jang Wonheung. This is where the narrative customs, which are common in family novels, are structurally embodied. In other words, 『BuJangYangMunrok』 is to create a complex characteristic that organically combines the narrative structure of female hero novels, family novels through the story of heroism, marriage, and women's hardships.
On the other hand, in 『BuJangYangMunrok』, multiple marriages act as the basis for the whole story. These multiple marriages minimize intervention in each other's narratives, and while proceeding individually, they are described crosswise to secure the volume of the long story. In particular, the center of the narrative crosses the narrative of Jang Wonheung and Bu Wolhye from the marriage of Bu Gye and Jang Byeokgye, and the narrative of King Wei is at the center of this organic trend.
