철릭을 모티브로 한 전통복식 디자인 개발 -임부복을 중심으로- (A Development of Korean Traditional Clothing Designs With a Cheollik Motive -Focusing on Maternity Clothes-)

초록

The recent Korean Wave all around the world and the effort of Hanbok Advancement Center are making a contribution to the reappraisal of awareness of Korean beauty and Hanbok which is a kind of Korean traditional clothing and the rapidly growing interest in Hanbok. However, there is still a lack of attempts at development of maternity clothes for women who are major consumers of Hanbok. Therefore, this study was conducted to develop maternity clothes using Cheollik and explore the potential for new development of traditional Hanbok. The study methods are as follows. First, the previous studies and literature regarding Cheollik that is one of Korean traditional clothes and physical characteristics of pregnant women were considered. Second, based on the previous studies, a design process model for development of maternity clothes designs with a Cheollik motive was devised. The design process consists of five stages: search, perception of problems, concept development, implementation of solutions and evaluation. Third, in the light of the concept obtained from the design process, three maternity clothes designs with a Cheollik motive were created. One vest-typed Cheollik design and two one piece-typed Cheollik designs were developed and the study results are as below. First, the A line silhouette using morphological features of Cheollik is excellent in covering the body shape and has great aesthetics. Second, the crease and the side slit of the skirt make it possible to adjust the size which means women from the early stage to the late stage of pregnancy can wear comfortably. It is also economical, since it can be worn as both the daily dress and the formal dress. Third, eco-friendly materials were applied for a sensitive skin type. This study has significance by developing aesthetic, economical and eco-friendly designs with a Cheollik motive and discovering the potential for new development of Hanbok.
