발달장애 자녀를 둔 어머니의 소진에 관한 연구 (A study on burnout in the mothers of children with developmental disabilities)

초록

이 연구는 발달장애 자녀를 둔 어머니가 경험하는 소진 수준을 살펴보고, 그 소진에 영향을 미치는 다양한 요인을 검증하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위하여 2023년 11월 1일부터 12월 31일까지 전국장애인부모연대 소속의 발달장애 자녀를 둔 어머니 159명을 대상으로 온라인 설문조사를 실시하였으며, 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 발달장애 자녀를 둔 어머니의 소진 수준은 전체 평균 2.92로 0.67의 표준편차를 보였고, 선행연구들보다 발달장애 자녀를 둔 어머니의 소진 수준이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 다중회귀분석 결과 양육 스트레스, 사회적 지지, 도전 행동에 대한 대처방법의 하위요인이 소진의 하위요인에 정(+)적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구 결과는 발달장애 자녀를 둔 어머니의 양육에 대한 지원방안을 다각화하고, 어머니의 소진을 낮출 수 있는 다양한 프로그램의 개발과 자녀를 양육하는 상황에서 겪는 어려움을 이해하고 경제적 상황을 개선할 뿐 아니라 사회적 관계를 증진하도록 지원해야 함을 시사한다. 이 연구는 발달장애 자녀를 둔 어머니를 대상으로 소진에 관한 국내에서 처음으로 조사한 양적 연구라는 점에서 큰 의의가 있다. 본 연구결과는 발달장애 자녀를 둔 어머니의 소진에 영향을 미치는 요인에 대한 예방적 개입을 위한 프로그램 개발과 복지정책 개선에 필요한 기초자료로 활용될 것이다.

This study aimed to examine the level of burnout experienced by the mothers of children with developmental disabilities, verify factors affecting burnout. For this purpose, this study conducted an online survey of 159 mothers of children with developmental disabilities among members of the National Association of Parents of the Disabled Persons from November 1 to December 31, 2023. The research results were as follows. First, the overall average of burnout among mothers of children with developmental disabilities was 2.92, with a standard deviation of 0.67, and the level of burnout among mothers of children with developmental disabilities was higher than in previous studies on people with developmental disabilities. Second, the multiple regression analysis results showed that the sub-factors of parenting stress, social support, and coping strategy for challenging behavior had a positive (+) effect on the sub-factors of burnout. The results of this study showed the necessity of developing various programs that can diversify support measures according to the needs of mothers of children with developmental disabilities, developing programs that can reduce the exhaustion of mothers, understanding the difficulties of rearing children with developmental disabilities more deeply, and providing support for improving economic conditions and promoting social relations. This study are significant as this was the first quantitative study conducted in Korea to investigate burnout on the mothers of children with developmental disabilities. The results of this study will be used as basic data for the development of programs for preventive intervention and the improvement of welfare policies for the factors affecting the burnout of mothers with children with developmental disabilities.
