아베노믹스 이후 일본 민간 소비의 특징 (Characteristics of Private Consumption in Japan - since the Implementation of "Abenomics")

アベノミクスが本格稼動してから5年目に入った。その間、株価、為替相場、雇 用指標のようにその成果が鮮明に現れた部分もあるが、民間消費に関しては一向 に改善しているようには見えない。ここ20年間民間消費額はほぼ横ばいないし傾 向的に減少しつつあり、消費心理もなかなか回復の軌道に乗れないままである。 　だが、民間消費が停滞しているとはいえ、すべての年齢、世帯、性別の消費が 落ち込んでいるわけではない。年齢別、世帯別、性別の消費データを見れば、民 間消費はより複雑で中層的な性格をもっていることに気づく。民間消費が停滞な いし減少趨勢にあるなか、高齢層の消費支出は安定的に拡大してきた。消費に対する効用が高い彼らは若いときに貯めた貯蓄を取り崩し、子供や孫に支出する ケースが多い。女性一人の独身世帯もまた消費支出が増加している。独身男性よ り消費性向が高い独身女性の場合、有業人口の増加と所得の増加が消費増加をも たらした。一方、若者の消費支出は減少した。実質賃金減少、消費心理萎縮だけ でなく、嫌消費という世帯的な特徴も加わり、若者の消費は減少したと考えられ る。

영어초록

It has been five years since the full-blown operation of Abenomics, and there are opposite assessments of Abenomics today. The most prominent change is found in the favorable employment environment. The positive assessments of Abenomics turn negative when it comes to the consumption indexes, however. In Japan, personal consumption, which accounts for 60% of GDP, is hardly on the path to recovery.
It is true that the low consumer confidence is showing no sign of recovery and that the overall household consumption has not increased, but there are a couple of characteristics facts about consumption data by the gender and age. Focusing on the consumption behavior of Japanese people by the gender and age, this study set out to demonstrate that the private consumption was not simply stagnated or reduced but had more complex multi-layered features in Japan in recent years.
The findings indicate that the elderly had a relatively higher level of consumption utility than other age groups and made many consumption expenditures on their children and grandchildren based on their savings. The percentage of women getting married late or deciding not to get married is rising, which phenomenon combined with the expansion of women’s entry in the society has resulted in the increased consumption expenditures of single women households. The problem lies in the young Japanese people that tend to close their wallets due to their anxiety about the future. Kenshohi (anti-consumption sentiment) is, however, one of the characteristics of the young generation that are hard to be resolved in a short run.
As the findings of the present study show, there are many changes being detected in its content in terms of quality in spite of stagnated private consumption. Here is the reason why the policies for the activation of consumption should be addressed at a more micro-level in the future.
