국립공원 자연관찰로 해설판의 기호 간 상호관계와 전시 형식, 초등 과학교과와의 연계성 분석 (Analyses of the Correlation between Symbols on Interpretation Boards along Nature Trails in National Parks and the Connectivity between Exhibition Types and Elementary School Science Subject)

초록

본 연구는 국립공원 자연관찰로 중 원적골, 희방계곡, 금산 자연관찰로의 해설판을 대상으로 텍스트와 이미지 기호 간 상호관계성과 전식 형식, 초등 과학교과와의 연계성을 분석하여 교육적 활용 가능성을 탐색하는 데 목적이 있다. 기호 간 상호관계 분석에서는 자연관찰로간 통계적으로 유의미한 차이를 보이지 않았으나, 2수준인 ‘예시적 관계’ 유형이 가장 높은 빈도를 보였으며, 4수준으로 평가받을 수 있는 ‘상호보완적 관계’의 유형은 낮은 빈도를 보였다. 그러나 텍스트와 이미지 간 논리적 접근으로 탐방객의 집중력을 높이기 위해서는 ‘상호보완적 관계’ 유형의 해설판이 설치되어야 한다. 해설판의 전시 형식 분석에서는 자연관찰로간 통계적으로 유의미한 차이를 보이지 않았으나, 가장 낮은 수준 1세대 형식인 ‘눈으로 보는(Eyes-on)’ 유형이 대부분을 차지하였다. 4세대 ‘느끼는(Hearts-on)’ 형식은 희방계곡 자연관찰로에서만 나타났다. 그러나 자연관찰로 주변환경을 활용하여 직접 체험을 통한 ‘느끼는’ 해설판 전시 형식 수준까지 이어진다면 해설판의 활용도를 높일 수 있을 것이다. 자연관찰로 해설판 내용과 초등 과학교과와의 연계성 분석에서는 자연관찰로간 통계적으로 유의미한 차이를 보였는데, 금산 자연관찰로 해설판이 다양한 초등 과학교과 단원들과 연계성을 띠는 것을 볼 때 이곳은 다양한 주제를 바탕으로 실질적인 교과연계 체험학습이 가능할 것으로 기대된다. 전체적으로 자연관찰로 해설판 내용과 ‘식물의 생활’ 단원이 가장 높은 연계성을 보였으며, 그 다음으로 ‘생물과 환경’, ‘동물의 생활’ 단원 순으로 나타났다.

영어초록

This study aims to seek the educational applicability of interpretation boards along nature trails, particularly Wonjeokgol Valley, Heebang Valley and Geumsan Nature Trail, in national parks, by analyzing the correlation between text and image symbols on interpretation boards and the connectivity between exhibition types and elementary school science subject. In the correlation analysis of symbols, there was no statistically significant difference found between the nature trails. Yet, ‘Illustrative Relation’ Type, which is Level 2, showed the highest frequency, and ‘Complementary Relation’ Type, which can be evaluated as Level 4, showed the lowest frequency. However, to increase the concentration of visitors with a logical approach between text and images, it is necessary to install ‘Complementary Relation’ type interpretation boards. In the exhibition-type analysis of interpretation boards, there was no statistically significant difference found between the nature trails. ‘Eyes-on’ Type, which is the first-generation type in the lowest level, was found most, and ‘Hearts-on’ Type, which is the fourth-generation type, was found only along the nature trail in Heebang Valley. When interpretation boards reach the level of ‘Hearts-on’ Type that visitors can have direct experiences with the surrounding environment along nature trails, however, it will be possible to increase the applicability of interpretation boards. When analyzing the connectivity between the contents of interpretation boards and elementary school science subject, this study found statistically significant differences between the nature trails. Particularly, the interpretation boards along Geumsan Nature Trail showed a quite high level of connectivity with various chapters in the elementary school science subject. Therefore, it is expected that practical school subject-linked filed trips will be possible based on various different topics in this place. In general, the contents of interpretation boards showed the highest connectivity with the chapter, ‘Life of Plants’, followed by such chapters as ‘Living Things and Environment’ and ‘Life of Animals’.
