컨조인트 분석을 활용한 바람직한 교사 역량 구성요인의 가중치 탐색 (A Study on the Weights of the Component Factors on the Desirable Competencies of Teachers Based on Conjoint Analysis)

초록

이 연구는 교사가 갖추어야 할 역량의 구성요인들의 상대적 가중치를 평가하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 선행이론에 근거하여 교사가 갖추어야 할 역량으로 4개의 구성요인을 도출하였다. 그리고 초․중등 교사가 갖추어야 할 역량들의 상대적 가중치가 대학 교수의 경우와 어떠한 차이가 있는지, 학교급에 따라서, 성별에 따라서 어떻게 다른지, 5명의 가상교사 중 누구를 가장 선호하는지 컨조인트 분석을 활용하여 분석하였다. 연구대상은 초등학생 158명, 중학생 146명, 고등학생 141명, 대학생 221명 등 총 666명(남학생 327명, 여학생 339명)이었다. 연구결과는 다음과 같았다. 첫째, 바람직한 초․중등 교사 역량의 상대적 가중치는 교수방법, 인성, 전공교과 전문성, 진로지도 순인 반면, 바람직한 대학 교수 역량의 상대적 가중치는 전공교과 전문성, 인성, 교수방법, 진로지도의 순이었다. 둘째, 학교급에 따른 바람직한 교사 역량의 차이를 비교한 결과, 초등학생은 인성을, 중학생은 교수방법을, 고등학생은 전공교과 전문성과 교수방법을 가장 중시하였다. 셋째, 중학생의 경우 남학생은 여학생에 비해 진로지도를, 여학생은 인성을 더 중시하였다. 그리고 고등학교에서는 남학생은 여학생에 비해 진로지도와 인성을 더 중시하였고, 여학생은 교수방법을 더 중시하였다. 넷째, 5명의 가상교사 중 남학생은 공자를, 여학생은 설리반을 가장 선호하였다. 바람직한 교사 역량 구성요인의 가중치가 성취도, 자기조절학습능력 등 학생의 개인배경에 따라서 어떻게 달라지는지, 그리고 학생의 인식이 학부모와 교사의 인식과는 어떤 차이가 있는지 등에 관한 연구가 후속적으로 수행될 필요가 있다.

영어초록

The purpose of the present study is to evaluate the weights of component factors of desirable competencies of teachers. Based on previous research, four component factors of the desirable competencies of teachers were drawn. Then, the weights of the component factors of the desirable competencies of teachers were analyzed using conjoint analysis in order to see i) whether there are differences in the weights between teachers and professors, ii) whether the weights are different across the school level, iii) whether the weights are different by sex, and iv) which virtual teacher out of five is the most preferred. In total, 666 subjects (327 males and 339 females) were participated in this study. The subjects were composed of 158 primary school students, 146 middle school students, and 141 high school students, and 221 college students. The results of the study are as follows. First, in the case of teachers, the most important aspect was shown to be instructional method, followed by personality, subject expertise, and career guidance. However, in the case of professors, the subject expertise was considered the most important competency, followed by personality, instructional method, and career guidance. Second, concerning the weights based on the school level, primary school students perceived personality as the most important aspect. Middle school students, however, preferred the aspect of instructional method. As for high school students, the aspects of subject expertise and instructional method were shown to be most important. Third, in the case of middle school, male students put more emphasis on the aspect of career guidance, whereas female students considered the aspect of personality more important. In the case of high school, male students perceived career guidance and personality as key aspects. However, female students preferred the aspect of instructional method. Fourth, among the virtual teachers, male students preferred Confucius, whereas females preferred Sullivan. Finally, it is necessary to investigate in the future whether the weights can vary depending on students’ backgrounds, such as scholastic achievements and self-regulated learning and whether the recognition of the weights differ among students, parents, and teachers.
