초록

This research investigated yangban families’ marriage network in the country society of the 17th century based on 『晉陽河氏世譜 - 萬曆本』(hereafter 『Jinyang Ha–ssi Genealogy』), which Ha-Hon(河渾), yangban of Habcheon(陜川), compiled in 1606 and corrected in 1608. Already in the previous researches, review on historical change of genealogy was performed. Also, the point of change of genealogy to the direction of paternal line from the method of highly regarding both husband and wife is well known. And the point is also known that this functioned as myeongjokbo (名族譜), an outside function rather than reinforcement of mere paternal line organization. Also, this research intended to grant a significance in the aspect of formation of marriage network.
This research utilized 『Jinyang Ha–ssi Genealogy』 and 「先輩聞見修正鄕案」 (hereafter Habcheon Hyangan) in order to investigate how they considered and utilized Joseon yangban’s marriage network and blood line in the provincial society. This research intended to investigate how yangban were formed in provincesarea in the early 17th century, just after Japanese invasions of Korea, and which efforts they exerted in order to solidify their status in the community. Firstly, this research will explain the characteristic of the data. And will investigate the compiler’s intention of writing marriage network selectively. To analyze this, this research referred to the form of record of genealogy. The characteristic is to record ‘Oebo’(外譜) along with ‘Sangjib’(上集) ‘Hajib’(下集), and the existence of difference based on which common ground. Through this, the characteristic only of this genealogy was investigated.
In the Second, this research intended to investigate marriage network in genealogy. The characters recorded in Habcheon Hyangan had mutual marital relationship. That can be found in 『Jinyang Ha–ssi Genealogy』. Names of 30 persons out of 39 appeared in the genealogy in April 1599, and the overlapped marital relationship among them was also confirmed. This contributed to solidification of social status in Habcheon. Through this, an aspect how the provincial yangban intended to locate themselves in the province area. Marriage network in the provinces, represented with Hyangan Yibrokja, and marriage network with the center, represented with royal family, were important axes of genealogy compilation. To record this maximally, 『Jinyang Ha–ssi Genealogy』 utilized the form, ‘Hajib’(下集) and ‘Oebo’(外譜).
