다문화가정 청소년의 미디어 중독 현상과 미디어 교육 방안 (A Study on the Current Status of Media Addiction and Strategy of Media Education for Adolescents from Multicultural Families)

초록

본 연구는 다문화가정 청소년의 미디어 중독 현실을 탐색함과 동시에 올바른 미디어이용을 위한 방안을 모색하는 데에 있다. 이를 위해 자녀를 두고 있는 다문화가정 부모를포함하여, 다문화 관련 전문가 및 다문화 환경 관련 미디어 교육 전문가와의 심층인터뷰를 통해 다문화가정 청소년 미디어 교육의 방향과 대안적 가능성을 도출하고자 한다.
다문화가정 청소년들은 미디어 자체의 속성과 미디어를 통해 매개되는 여러 종류의콘텐츠, 그리고 비교적 최근에 확산되고 있는 스마트폰 같은 뉴미디어를 통한 미디어중독 현상이 확인되었다.
미디어 중독의 원인으로는 가정과 사회 환경 그리고 개인적 요소로서 가정구성원인어머니의 한국사회 부적응과 자녀들과의 소통 부재를 꼽았고, 사회적인 차원에서 외부활동의 부족으로 집 안에서 가장 쉽게 이용할 수 있는 미디어에 중독되게 되는 결과를가져왔다. 개인적 요소로는 다문화가정 청소년이 내성적이고 소극적인 성격이 있을 수있으나, 가족배경이나 중도입국 및 출국 같은 다문화가정의 특수한 맥락과 만나 악순환을거듭하게 되는 계기로 작용할 수도 있다. 이에 따라 다문화가정 청소년들이 미디어 중독에 빠지게 될 위험이 증가하는 것이다.
다문화가정 청소년의 미디어 중독 예방 교육 방안은 크게 다문화인식 개선, 가족구성원 교육, 청소년 직접교육, 방문지도사 제도 활용 등 정책적 개선이 포함되어 있다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study is to examine media addiction ofadolescents from multicultural families and offer a strategy for their mediause.
For this purpose, focus group interviews were conducted with parentsfrom multicultural families who have children, multicultural specialists andmulticultural media education specialists to find direction of media educationfor adolescents of multicultural families.
Findings of the study are as follows:Findings indicate that adolescents of multicultural families are addictedto the inherent disposition of media, diverse types of media contents,and new medium such as smart phone that has recently becamewidespread.
The causes of media addiction were found to be family and socialenvironment. In terms of the family, mothers who have trouble adjustingto the Korean society and lack of communication with the children werefound to be the cause of the addition. In terms of the social environment,limited social activities were found to lead to media addiction for theseadolescents. At the individual level, children of multicultural families couldbe introvert or shy, however, personality doubled with family dispositionand others such as immigration to Korea as a teen due to mother's marriagecould function as a mechanism that increase the risk of media addition.
The media addiction preventative educational program for adolescents ofmulticultural families includes the following components: improvingperception of multiculturalism, education for members of multiculturalfamilies, education for adolescents of multicultural families, improvementof policies relevant to multicultural families such as the use of visitingconsultants.
