초록

춘원이 남기고 간 문학적 유산은 객관적으로 평가되어야 한다. 그것은 춘원 개인의 문제가 아니라 우리 문학사와 우리의 역사를 올바로 서술하는 데 긴요한 과제다. 문학 연구자는 문학적 가치 평가와 더불어 당대의 역사적 사실을 객관적으로 평가해야 한다.
춘원을 객관적으로 평가하려면 정본『춘원이광수전집』을 발간하여 연구자와 독자에게 제공할 필요가 있다. 기존의 삼중당과 우신사에서 발행한『이광수전집』은 러시아 체류 시절에 발표한 작품들, 소년회의『신한자유종』과 대한민국임시정부 기관지『독립신문』에 발표된 작품들, 일제 말의 친일적인 작품들, 일본어로 발표한 작품들이 빠졌다. 이들을 망라한『춘원이광수전집』을 발간하여 디지털시대의 연구자들이 자료에 쉽게 접근하고 춘원의 공과 과를 객관적으로 평가하도록 할 필요가 있다.
『춘원이광수전집』발간의 의의는 감수자가 책임을 지고 춘원이 발표한 모든 작품을 발굴하여 감수하도록 실명제를 도입하여 정본을 확정하고, 현대어역을 한 일이다. 책임 감수제를 도입하여 작품의 오독을 피할 수 있도록 한 것과 새로 발굴된 모든 작품을 수록하여 공론의 장을 마련한 점은 춘원이나 한국근대학사의 객관적 논의를 위해서 다행스러운 일이다. 손병희가 추천한 동학도 일진회 유학생을 친일과 관련시킨 점, 동경 유학생 비밀결사조직인 소년회 결성,『신한자유종』의 실제 여부, 「사랑인가」의 친일 논란, 대한민국 임시정부의 노선 갈등과 실력양성론의 위상, 춘원의 귀국과 수양동우회 활동의 관련성, 「민족개조론」과 연통제 복원의 관련성, 동우회 사건 기소와 전향, 검사의 항고와 친일, 친일 작품과 당대의 상황, 학도병 권유 강연과 실력양성론, 재판 종결과 칩거, 저작물 발행 및 판매 금지 등은 향후 공론화해야 할 사항들이다.
우리 학계에서는 춘원의 일거수일투족을 친일과 연계하려는 학자들이 적지 않다. 일본의 야만이 최악에 달한 일제 말기 굴절된 삶을 살 수밖에 없었던 당대의 작가들을 유교적 시각에서 단죄하는 것은 옳지 않다. 춘원의 공과 과를 분명히 하되 일본의 폭압적인 전횡 속에서 살아남고자 했던 춘원의 있는 그대로의 모습과 그가 지향하는 바가 무엇이었는가를 이해하는 것이 중요하다.

The literary legacies left by Chunwon must be evaluated objectively. This is not Chunwon's personal problem, but an urgent task in correctly describing our literary history and our history. In addition to literary value, literary researchers must objectively evaluate the historical facts of the time.
In order to objectively evaluate Chunwon, it is necessary to publish Chunwon Lee Kwang-soo's collection and provide it to researchers and readers. The previously published Lee Kwang-soo's collections by Samjoongdang and Ushinsa are missing works published during his stay in Russia, Works published in New Korean Freedom Bell, works published in Independent Newspaperworks, pro-Japanese works at the end of the Japanese colonial period, and works published in Japanese. It is necessary to publish Chunwon Lee Kwang-soo's collection, which covers them, so that researchers in the digital age can easily access the data and evaluate Chunwon's achievements and achievements objectively.
The significance of the publication of Chunwon Lee Kwang-soo's collection is that the real-name system was introduced so that the director could discover and bear all the works published by Chunwon with responsibility, and the original copy was confirmed, and the modern language was performed. There are many scholars in our academic world who try to connect Chunwon's every move with pro-Japanese collaboration. It is not right to criticize from a Confucian perspective the writers of the time when they had to live a life that was bent at the end of the Japanese colonial period, when Japanese barbarism was at its peak. It is important to understand Chunwon's true appearance and his goals while clarifying his achievements.
