초록

목적 본 연구의 목적은 다문화가정 어머니의 사회계층, 문화적응 스트레스와 자녀의 진로지원 행동 수준이 몇 개의 잠재프로파일로분류되는지 확인하고, 이러한 잠재프로파일에 영향을 미치는 하위 요인들을 분석함으로써, 다문화가정 어머니와 청소년이 경험하는 진로 장벽 문제를 종합적으로 이해하고, 실천적 및 정책적 대안을 마련하는 데 있다.
방법 이를 위해 다문화 청소년 패널연구 9차년도 자료(2021)를 사용하여 다문화가정 어머니와 청소년 1,001쌍을 대상으로 잠재프로파일 분석(Latent Profile Analysis, LPA)을 실시하였다. 잠재프로파일 분석은 참여자들을 공통의 특성을 지닌 여러 하위 집단으로 분류하는 데 유용한 방법으로, 본 연구에서는 어머니의 사회계층, 문화적응 스트레스, 자녀의 진로지원 행동 수준 등을 변수로설정하였다. 분석 과정에서는 Mplus 8.3을 사용하여, 각 잠재프로파일의 특성과 그에 영향을 미치는 주요 요인들을 평가하였다.
또한, 각 잠재프로파일에 속하는 청소년의 진로 장벽 수준의 차이를 비교 분석하기 위해 BCH 차이검증을 실시하였다.
결과 분석 결과, 다문화가정 어머니의 사회계층, 문화적응 스트레스, 자녀의 진로지원 행동 수준에 따라 6개의 잠재프로파일이 도출되었다. 이들 프로파일은 사회적 자원이 높은 그룹부터 낮은 그룹, 문화적응에 어려움을 겪는 그룹, 진로지원 행동이 활발한 그룹등 다양한 특성을 보인 집단으로 분류되었다. 또한, 각 프로파일에 속하는 다문화 청소년들의 진로 장벽 수준에서도 유의미한 차이가나타났다. 특히, 사회적 자원이 낮고 문화적응 스트레스가 높은 어머니의 자녀들은 진로 장벽이 더 높은 경향을 보였다.
결론 다문화가정 어머니들도 여러 하위 집단으로 나뉠 수 있으며, 이들의 특성을 명확히 이해하는 것이 필요하다. 단순히 다문화가정 어머니들이 문화적응 스트레스가 높거나 자녀의 진로지원을 충분히 하지 못한다고 보는 편견에서 벗어나, 이들 집단 내부의 다양성을 다문화적인 관점에서 이해하고 지원 방안을 모색할 필요가 있다. 이러한 연구 결과는 다문화가정의 특성에 맞는 맞춤형 정책마련과 실천적 대안 제시에 중요한 시사점을 제공한다.

영어초록

Objectives The purpose of this study is to identify how multicultural family mothers' socioeconomic status, accul turation stress, and levels of career support behavior for their children can be categorized into latent profiles. By analyzing the sub-factors influencing these latent profiles, the study aims to comprehensively understand the ca reer barrier issues experienced by multicultural family mothers and adolescents and propose practical and poli cy-oriented alternatives.
Methods To achieve this, data from the ninth wave (2021) of the Multicultural Adolescents Panel Study (MAPS) were used. A total of 1,001 pairs of multicultural mothers and their children were analyzed using Latent Profile Analysis (LPA). LPA is a useful method for categorizing participants into subgroups based on shared characteristics. In this study, the variables included mothers' socioeconomic status, acculturation stress, and the level of career support behavior for their children. The analysis was conducted using Mplus 8.3, assessing the characteristics of each latent profile and the main factors influencing them. Furthermore, differences in the level of career barriers among adolescents belonging to each latent profile were analyzed using BCH difference testing.
Results The analysis identified six latent profiles based on mothers' socioeconomic status, acculturation stress, and levels of career support behavior. These profiles ranged from groups with high social resources to those with low resources, groups experiencing significant difficulties with acculturation, and groups with active career sup port behaviors. Additionally, there were significant differences in the level of career barriers among adolescents belonging to each profile. Notably, children of mothers with low social resources and high acculturation stress tended to exhibit higher levels of career barriers.
Conclusions Multicultural family mothers can be divided into several subgroups, and understanding their charac teristics is essential. It is important to move beyond the stereotype that multicultural family mothers experience high acculturation stress or are insufficient in supporting their children’s career development. Instead, the diver sity within these groups should be understood from a multicultural perspective, and support strategies should be explored accordingly. These findings provide significant implications for developing tailored policies and practical alternatives that address the unique characteristics of multicultural families.
