유아용 그림책에 나타난 아버지 역할 분석 연구 : 우리나라 창작 그림책을 중심으로 (Analysis of the Father’s Role in Korean Picture Books for Early Childhood Education)

초록

본 연구는 국내에서 창작된 유아용 그림책 중 제목에 ‘아버지’가 표현된 책의 양적 변화와 그 내용에 나타난 아버지 역할을 분석하고, 시간의 흐름에 따른 아버지 역할의 변화를 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 한국출판연감의 유아용 국내 창작 그림책 중 제목에 ‘아빠’ 혹은 ‘아버지’를 포함하고 있는 그림책 총 56권의 880개 장면을 대상으로 아버지 역할 유형 분석 도구를 사용해 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 유아용 국내 창작 그림책 중 처음으로 ‘아버지’라는 단어가 제목에 나타난 것은 1985년이고, 이후 2016년 5월까지 총 56권으로 지속적인 증가추세를 보이며 출판되고 있었다. 둘째, 그림책에 나타난 아버지 역할은 놀이 상대, 정서적 지지, 신체적 접촉, 돌봐주기, 일상생활활동, 기능 전달, 직업활동, 기타(자녀에 대한 방관 등), 가사활동, 훈육의 순서로 나타났다. 셋째, 아버지 역할 변화는 놀이 상대, 정서적 지지, 신체적 접촉이 다른 역할에 비해 지속적으로 높은 비율로 나타났다. 그러나 2000년에서 2004년 사이를 기점으로 기능전달은 계속 감소하며 돌봐주기가 나타나고 정서적 지지가 상승하였으며, 현실 사회 속의 아버지의 모습이 그림책에 나타나기 시작했다.

영어초록

The aims of study were to analyze the quantitative change of Korean picture books for early childhood education expressing ‘father’ in the title published from 1985 to May 2016 and the father's role in the context of the picture books and to explore the change of the father’s role according to the flow of time. To this end, this study explored the implication and meaning of the father's role expressed in picture books for early childhood education and suggests a proper direction for the contents of picture books for the father’s role reflecting the changing times of this era. The study books consisted of 880 pieces of which 56 books included ‘dad’ or ‘father’ in the titles of the Korean picture books for early childhood, which were published in the Korean Publishers Yearbook from January 1985 to May 31, 2016. This study analyzed the father's role by combining the texts and pictures. Parental role analysis was used to revise the parental behavior type analysis criterion_(Park, So-yoon, 2016), and the frequency and percentage were calculated for each sub-category by combining the texts and pictures. The results are summarized as follows. First, the first time the word ‘father’ appeared in the title of a picture book was in 1985 followed by a total of 56 books until May 2016 with a steadily increasing trend. Second, the roles of the father appeared in the following order: play partner, emotional support, physical contact, taking care, daily life activities, function delivery, occupational activities, other_(onlooking children, lethargy due to unemployment, father who expresses his fear on some objects, etc.), household activities, and discipline. Third, the change in the father's role appeared to be higher than that of the other roles without changing the role of ‘play partner’, ‘emotional support’, and ‘physical contact’ from 1985 to May 2016. However, from 2000 to 2004, ‘function delivery’ continued to decrease, and ‘taking care’ and ‘emotional support’ increased more significantly. Onlooking children, lethargy due to unemployment, and expressing fear of an object, which had never appeared in the past, began to show in picture books gradually to portray a realistic father.
