청도 거주 조선족의 언어 능력과 언어 태도 (A Study on the Language Capacity and linguistic attitudes of Korean-Chinese People in Qingdao)

초록

본고는 중국의 조선족 신흥 집거지로서의 대표적인 도시인 청도의 조선족 언어 사용 실태에 대한 연구이다. 현재 중국 조선족 사회의 가장 큰 문제는 해체와 재편이다. 본 연구는 새롭게 형성되는 조선족 집거지에서 일어나는 조선족들의 언어 현상을 현지 조사를 통하여 알아보았다. 본 연구의 자료는 2010년 5월부터 8월까지 청도에서 예비조사, 본조사, 추가조사를 거쳐 수집된 자료이다. 설문지는 총 500부를 배포하여 최종적으로 405부를 분석에 사용하였다.(회수율 81%).
청도 거주 조선족들의 언어 능력과 언어 태도에 대해 알아본 결과 다음과 같은 점들이 발견되었다. 언어 능력면에서는 첫째, 청도 조선족들의 조선어 보존 정도는 비교적 높고 중국어 능력도 비슷한 수준을 보였다. 둘째, 각 언어 영역 능력별로 보면 조선어 구사력이 가장 높고 한국어 이해력이 가장 낮게 평가되었다. 구사력과 작문력에서는 조선어가 중국어에 비해 우세하나 독해력 면에서는 중국어가 높게 나타났다. 셋째, 출생지별로 언어 능력을 비교해 본 결과 요녕성 출신자들의 중국어 능력이 기타 지역에 비해 높고 조선어 능력은 연변 출신자들이 높게 나타났다.
언어 태도 면에서는 첫째, 청도 조선족들은 대부분 조선말에 대해 긍정적으로 생각하고 있는 편이다. 둘째, 세대별로는 학생 세대는 중국어 선호도가 높고 부모세대로 갈수록 조선어 선호도가 높았다. 셋째, 본인, 자녀, 배우자에 대한 희망 언어 태도에서는 ‘본인’과 ‘자녀’의 희망 언어는 중국어가 높고, ‘배우자’의 희망 언어는 조선어가 가장 높게 나타났다. 넷째, 앞으로 조선족 사회에 많이 사용되길 바라는 언어(기대 태도)에 대한 응답에서는 조선어가 가장 많은 반면에 쓰이게 될 것 같은 언어(예측 태도)에서는 한국어가 가장 많이 선택되었다. 위의 결과들은 세대별, 청도 거주기간별로 서로 다르게 나타나는 것을 볼 수 있었다.

영어초록

In recent years, Qingdao has become the emerging locality of Korean-Chinese people. This paper researches the linguistic competence and linguistic attitudes of Korean-Chinese people living in Qingdao. The data information in this paper is derived from the survey that was done during May 2010 to August 2010. Participants of the survey are Korean-Chinese people living in Qingdao. During the process of this survey, 500 questionnaires were sent and 405 available questionnaires were taken back.
By analyzing the linguistic competence and linguistic attitudes of Korean-Chinese people in Qingdao, we can discover some phenomena.
In the linguistic competence aspect: First, in general, Korean-Chinese people in Qingdao have a higher rate of 'Joseonmal'(the Korean language used by Korean-Chinese people in China) maintenance, and their level of Chinese is comparable to their level of Joseonmal. Second, according to the comparison of different linguistic competence, it has been discovered that they have the highest ability of Joseonmal oral expression, but their comprehensive ability of Joseonmal is the lowest. In the aspects of oral expression and writing, Korean-Chinese people have higher Joseonmal ability than Chinese ability; while they have higher Chinese ability in reading than Korean national minority language ability. Third, by comparing language ability of Korean-Chinese people born in different places, it has been discovered that people who were born in Liaoning province have higher Chinese ability, while people who were born in Yanbian have higher Joseonmal ability.
In the linguistic attitudes aspect: First, most of Korean-Chinese people in Qingdao have positive attitudes towards Joseonmal. Second, according to the analysis of Korean-Chinese people in different age groups, it can be found that young generation likes Chinese more than Joseonmal, while the parent generation likes Joseonmal more than Chinese. Third, when answering which language do they hope they and their family members are good at, most of them hope that they themselves and their children can be good at Chinese, and most of the respondents hope that their mates can do well in Joseonmal. Fourth, in the aspect of the mainstream speech in Korean-Chinese society in the future, most of the respondents hope it will be Joseonmal. However, most of the respondents think it will be the South Korean language which will become the mainstream speech in Korean-Chinese society. The result above is different according to different ages and different periods of time they live in Qingdao.
