현대시조의 놀이적 성격과 치유적 기능 (The Playful Character and Healing Function of Modern Sijo)

초록

본고는 현대시조가 억눌린 감정을 정화하고 불순한 심리를 해소하는 치유적 기능이 있다는 것을 밝히는 데 목적이 있다. 시조가 가진 놀이적 성격은 탐색과 해결이라는 시조 창작과정으로부터 유입된다. 거기서 불안한 자아를 들여다보며 미래의 자기 양식으로 구현되는 데 있어서 시조 형식이 기여한다. 탐구한 시조가 3장 6구 4음보라는 일정한 형식을 통해 진술되면서 내면을 기록하는데, 그 과정을 통해 자신의 문제를 파악하는 자기 성찰을 가져다준다.
본고에서 주목한 이호우와 이영도는 오누이 시조 시인으로 현대시조 개척기와 안정기 사이에 활동했던 시조 시인이다. 주목한 이들의 시편은 시가에서 연유한 시조를 통해 시와 노래의 특성을 가지고 치유적 성격을 그대로 반영한다. 이를테면 고시조의 시조창에서 비롯된 현대시조는 노래에서 유래되어 문자로 완성되면서 감정의 회복과 정서의 순화에 기여하고 있다. 그것은 일정한 시조 형식에 삶이라는 내용을 담은 문자를 삽입함으로써 정서적 반응이 일어나며 이것은 언어 놀이로 통한다.
진정한 의미에서 언어를 통한 놀이는 무방향이며 무목적성이다. 그것은 한 편의 시조가 탄생하는 지점에서 발생 되는 방식과 유사하다. 다만 일정한 규칙과 방법으로써 언어 놀이는 감정 조절과 감정 순화 등의 정신적 성장 과정에서 효과적인 치료 매체다. 언어 놀이라는 측면에서 시조는 언어표현을 통한 자기 감각에 반응하는 창의적인 예술 활동으로, 정서 개입과 동시에 긴장과 이완을 경험한다. 게다가 억압된 기억과 부정적 정서를 조율하면서 자아 성찰을 유도하고, 자아실현을 통한 자기 성장을 모색하는데 기여한다.
살펴본 시편은 단시조 형식 또는 연시조 구성으로 전위적인 실험성보다는 안정적인 형식을 통해 서정성을 강화시킨다. 말하자면 무리한 형식의 일탈이나 산발적으로 불안정한 시행이 아닌 형식의 균형과 내용의 조화를 이룬 질서화된 시조를 말한다. 연구 방법으로 축출한 텍스트를 통해 이호우와 이영도 시조에 나타난 치유적 성격을 살필 수 있다. 이는 문학 치료의 근간이 되는 동종요법, 이종요법, 카타르시스, 성찰과 통합을 통해 감정 순화와 정서 회복 그리고 갈등 해소와 자아 촉진 등의 단계로 타진했다.

영어초록

This paper reveals that the modern sijo has a healing function to purify suppressed emotions and eliminate impure psychology. This flows from the process of creation of the sijo, that is, “search and solution,” based on the character of play that the sijo has. Therefore, the sijo form contributes to looking into the ego of the uneasy world and being embodied in the future self-style. The founding sijos are stated in the format of three chapters, six sections, and four syllables to record their inner thoughts, and during that time, they bring about self-awareness to grasp their own problems.
Lee Hou (1912-1970) and Lee Yeongdo (1916-1976), who are the focus of this article, were the sijo poets of a brother and a sister who were active between the modern sijo pioneers and the stable period. Their focused psalms reflect their curative character with the characteristics of poetry and song through the poetry—derived sijo. For example, the modern founder, which originated in the sijo song of ancient sijo, is derived from a song and completed with letters, contributing to emotional recovery and emotional purification. By inserting characters containing the content of life into a certain ancestral form, it causes an emotional reaction, which leads to language play.
In its truest sense, play with language is directionless and aimless. It is similar to the way it occurs at the point where the sijo is born. However, as a certain rule and method, language play is an effective therapeutic medium in the process of mental growth, such as emotional regulation and emotional purification. From the perspective of language play, the sijo experiences tension and relaxation simultaneously with emotional intervention as a creative artistic activity that responds to a sense of self through linguistic expression. Furthermore, it induces self-reflection while adjusting repressed memories and negative emotions and contributes to the search for self-growth through self-realization.
The specimens examined in this paper strengthen the lyricism through a stable form rather than avant-garde experimentation as a short sijo form or a stanzaic sijo composition. In other words, it refers to an ordered sijo that harmonizes the balance of form and content, not excessive form deviations or sporadic unstable implementations. Therefore, through the texts removed from the research method, the healing character appeared in the sijo of Lee Hou and Lee Yeongdo. This was explored in the stages of 1) emotional cleansing and recovery and 2) conflict resolution and self-promotion through homeopathy, heterogeneous therapy, catharsis, reflection, and integration, which are the basis of literary therapy.
