국내 도예 작업장의 안전수칙 실태연구와 매뉴얼 제안 (A Study on the Condition of Safety Rules in Domestic Ceramics Studio and a Manual Proposal)

초록

본 연구의 목적은 도자 재료학과 안전 보건학을 접목하여 대학의 도자 실기실, 1인 도예공방, 10인 이하의 소규모 작업장 등이 갖추어야 할 알기 쉬운 도예 실기실 안전수칙모듈을 개발하여 도예재료 및 작업환경에 관한 안전의식을 고취시키고 장단기적인 사고와 질병을 예방하고자 하는데 있다.
도예 실기실의 환경과 재료 및 안전보건의식조사를 위해 국내외 사례연구 및 도예인 설문조사를 하였다. 국내 대학의 도예과에는 한국산업안전보건공단에서 마련한 물질안전보건자료(MSDS: Material Safety Data Sheet) 화학물질 검색-MSDS 검색 [안전보건공단] http://msds.kosha.or.kr/kcic/msdssearchMsds.do 와 각 학교별 실험실 안전지침서를 비치하는 정도였고 1인 공방이나 소규모 작업장에서는 대부분 안전수칙을 구비하고 있지 않았다. 도자재료 및 안전의식에 관한 도예인 설문지 조사 결과 국내 대학의 도예학과나 단체가 개인 공방이나 10인 이하 소규모 작업장보다는 재료학의 교육이나 시설적인 면에서는 다소 높은 수준과 인식도를 보였으나, 재료의 유해성이나 안전보건 정보 및 교육적인 면의 인식도는 대체로 낮게 나타났다. 도예가들이 주로 사용하는 상, 하회 안료 및 금속산화물에 대한 유해성 인식 조사에서는 발색이 중요하므로 원료의 유해성은 생각해본 적이 별로 없다고 응답한 경우가 25~37%로 꽤 높게 나타났다. 도자기 작업장의 분진에 대한 인식조사결과 잘 모른다 라고 응답한 경우가 20%, 청소만 잘 하면 위험하지 않다 고 한 응답자들이 20%정도로 나타났다. 도자재료에 대한 전반적인 교육 및 경험수준은 높아졌으나 소속 실기실에서 그 유해성을 인식하고 환경을 조정하거나 사용 시 주의하는 안전 의식도는 상대적으로 낮은 것으로 조사되었다. 위의 설문지 조사결과를 기반으로 한국에서 주로 사용되는 도자기 원료(소지, 유약, 안료) 및 소성, 실기실 관리 및 안전교육에 관한 도예 실기실 안전수칙을 개발하였다.

영어초록

This study aims to encourage the consciousness about ceramic materials and the work environment in the potters who operate a small scale business and to prevent long and short term incidents and diseases, developing an easy to know ceramic studio safety precaution module that ceramic rooms at college, one main ceramic studio, small scaled kiln equipped pottery studios with fewer than 10 persons should have by combining Ceramic Material Science and Safety Health.
For a survey of their consciousness about ceramic studio environment, materials, safety and health, a study of the domestic and foreign cases was conducted, and a survey was conducted with potters. It was found that the Department of Ceramics of the domestic universities had Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) prepared by the Korea Occupational Safety & Health Agency and laboratory safety guidelines in each school, while most one-man studios or small-scale kiln-equipped pottery workshops were not equipped with safety precautions. As a result of a questionnaire survey on the potters’ consciousness about ceramic materials and safety, the Department of Ceramics of the domestic universities or organizations had a somewhat higher level and perception in terms of material science education or facilities than individual studios or small scaled kiln equipped pottery workshops with fewer than 10 persons; however, they had overall low perceptions about the harmfulness of materials or safety and health information and education.
In the survey on the potters’ awareness about the harmfulness of over/under glazes and metal oxides they mainly used, 25 to 37% of the respondents responded that they hardly thought about the harmfulness of the materials, since coloring is important. As a result of an analysis of their awareness about dust in ceramic workshops, 20% responded that they did not know well, and about 20% responded that the materials are not hazardous if cleaned well. The overall levels of education and experience of ceramic materials increased, but the level of safety consciousness that the studios to which they belonged recognized the harmfulness, adjusted the environment, or they took notice when they used the substances were relatively low. Based on the result of the above questionnaire survey, this study developed ceramic studio safety manuals concerning the ceramic materials mainly used in South Korea (clay bodies, glazes and synthesized pigments), firing, studio management and safety education.
