디지털 기술 관여도와 가상 인플루언서 친숙도 그리고 수용자의 성이 가상 인플루언서 광고태도와 참여의도에 미치는 영향 (The Impact of Involvement, Familiarity, and Audience Gender on Virtual Influencer Advertising Attitude and Participation Intention)

초록

본 연구는 수용자 특성이 실존 인물이 아닌 가상 인플루언서에 대한 반응에는 어떠한 영향을 미치는지, 광고태도와 캠페인 참여의도를 통해 알아보았다. 그 결과 첫째, 가상 인플루언서가 출연한 캠페인에 대해 디지털 기술 관여도가 높은 집단의 광고태도가더 긍정적이었다. 그러나 기술 관여도의 영향이 캠페인 참여의도에는 유의한 결과를 나타내지는 않았다. 두 번째, 가상 인플루언서 친숙도가 높은 집단의 광고태도가 더 긍정적이었다. 그러나 참여의도에는 유의한 결과를 나타내지는 않았다. 세 번째, 광고태도에는 남성이, 캠페인 참여의도에는 여성이 더 긍정적이었다. 이어서 디지털 기술 관여도, 가상 인플루언서 친숙도, 성의 상호작용을 알아보았다. 먼저 광고태도에 대해서는 제한된 수준 내에서 3원 상호작용을 나타냈다. 남성의 경우 기술 관여도가 높은 집단에서친숙도의 차이가 크게 작용한 반면, 여성의 경우는 기술 관여도가 낮은 집단에서 친숙도의 차이가 크게 나타나는 경향을 보였다. 마지막으로 참여의도에 대해서는 제한된 수준 내에서 3원 상호작용을 나타냈다. 남성의 경우, 기술 관여도가 낮은 집단에서는 가상인플루언서 친숙도가 높은 집단의 참여의도가 높았으며, 관여도가 높은 집단에서는 친숙도가 낮은 집단의 참여의도가 높은 경향을 나타냈다. 반면 여성의 경우는 기술 관여도가 낮은 집단에서는 가상 인플루언서 친숙도가 낮은 집단의 참여의도가 높았으며, 관여도가 높은 집단에서는 친숙도가 높은 집단의 참여의도가 높은 경향을 나타냈다. 이러한 연구결과는 학문적 실무적 함의를 시사한다.

영어초록

This study investigated how audience characteristics affect responses to virtual influencers rather than real people through advertising attitudes and campaign participation intentions. As a result, first, the advertising attitude of the group with high involvement in digital technology was more positive toward campaigns featuring virtual influencer. However, the influence of technology involvement did not show significant results on campaign participation intention. Second, the advertising attitude of the group with high familiarity with virtual influencers was more positive.
However, there were no significant results on participation intention. Third, men had a more positive attitude towards advertising, and women had a more positive intention to participate in the campaign. Next, we examined the interaction between digital technology involvement, virtual influencer familiarity, and gender. First, with regard to attitude towards advertising, a three-way interaction was shown within a limited level. In the case of men, the difference in familiarity played a significant role in the group with high technology involvement. On the other hand, in the case of women, differences in familiarity tended to be large in groups with low technology involvement. Lastly, with regard to participation intention, a three-way interaction was shown within a limited level. For men, among groups with low technology involvement, participation intention was high in groups with high familiarity with virtual influencers. And in groups with high involvement, the intention to participate tended to be high in groups with low familiarity. On the other hand, among women, within the group with low technology involvement, the participation intention was high in the group with low familiarity with virtual influencers. And among groups with high involvement, groups with high familiarity tended to have high participation intentions. These research results suggest academic and practical implications.
