In the research on Chinese ancient history, the study of the Six Dynasties history has been highly valued by scholars. This paper in three parts introduces basic research situation of the study of the Six Dynasties history in China since 1911, especially in recent years.
The first part of the paper conducts division of the Chinese scholars' research on the history of the Wei, Jin, Northern and Southern Dynasties, including the study of the Six Dynasties history, since the Xinhai Revolution from the perspective of the history of the academic. It views the study of the Six Dynasties history can be roughly divided into three phases since 1911. The first phase is from the Xinhai Revolution in 1911 to the founding of New China in 1949. The representative characters of this phase are Chen Yinque, Lv Simian, Tang Yongtong, and so on.Their research on many issues of history and culture of the Six Dynasties has pioneering significance. The second phase is from the founding of New China in 1949 to China's reform and opening up began in 1978. The representative characters of this phase are Tang Zhangru, Miuyue, Zhou Yiliang, He Ziquan, Wang Zhongluo, and so on. During this period, the study of the Six Dynasties history in China began as a scientific system. The third phase is from China's reform and opening up began in 1978 to now. The representative characters of this phase are Tian Yuqing, Huang Lie, Zhou Weizhou, Zhu Dawei, and so on. This phase is characterized by the expanding of research teams of the Six Dynasties history, the widening of the research field, the deepening of studying issues, the emergence of research results.
The second part of the paper summarizes the research situation of Jiangsu Province，especially Nanjing areas of the Six Dynasties history in recent years. It respectively introduces What academic activities were conductded and what reasearch results were published by some research organizations and institutions such as Jiangsu Province Reserch Society of The Six Dynasties History, Nanjing Reserch Society of The Six Dynasties Culture, Nanjing Normal University Institute of the history and culture of the Six Dynasties, and so on .It points out that the establishment of a serie of academic societies promotes the study of the Six Dynasties history.
The third part of the paper generalizes the developments and trends of the study of the Six Dynasties history in China these years . First, studies of the Six Dynasties history explore from the traditional topics such as economic history , social problems in phases,etc. to a broader field of study. Second , the unearthed literature of the Six Dynasties greatly enriches the history materials of the research on the Six Dynasties history. Third ,the new archaeological results of the Six Dynasties advance more in depth studies of the Six Dynasties history.Fourth, historical research including the research on the Six Dynasties history increasingly integrates with the reality, and has been paid great attention by Chinese governments at all levels. Fifth, research teams of the Six Dynasties history are becoming increasingly younger and internationalization.
