초록

Ten Years is an omnibus film that foreshadowed the dark future of Hong Kong ten years later imagined based on the present and drew Hong Kong people's empathy. Winning the Best Picture Award of the Hong Kong Film Awards in 2016, the film expanded into one happening, making Chinese people uncomfortable. Ten Years points out the problems of the current system through the current situation of Hong Kong and the prospects for the future, and insists on the revolution. The main emotion revealed in the film is ‘fear'. Their target of fear is very specific. It is a ‘red color system'. In short, the film Ten Years is a dark prophecy created by the fear of red. It is the core of their fear that tragic prophecy and tragic imagination will become reality. The film was composed of five short films; Extras which contains a political strategy for the introduction of the National Security Law that restricts freedom of speech and political activities, Season of the End which deals with men and women who make everything of disappearing Hong Kong as samples, Dialect which depicts the plight of a taxi driver who knows only Cantonese in a situation where the use of Chinese standard language became mandatory, Self-Immolator which depicts the story of choosing to burn himself to live as a Hong Kong citizen not Chinese, Local Egg which contains a story that children were educated in a Chinese way became Boy Scouts to suppress Hong Kong's unique culture etc. The low-budget omnibus film, Ten Years, sets year 2025 as the axis of time and delicately depicts the situation in which Hong Kong identity is lost and China's control is strengthened. Despite the fact that the film was defined as ‘ideological virus' through the Global Times, a sister newspaper of a Communist paper ‘People's Daily’, controversies and concrete movements arising from the film Ten Years make Ten Years an issue as the film won the Best Picture Award.
