眉巖 柳希春의 文學世界 (Literary World of Miam Yu Huichun)

초록

眉巖 柳希春(1513~1577)의 『眉巖日記』와 詩歌는 문학사적으로 높이 평가된다. 그러므로 본고는 眉巖 柳希春의 문학을 한시, 시조, 일기를 중심으로 살펴보았다. 본고에서 논의한 사항들을 종합하여 결론으로 삼으면 다음과 같다.
유희춘은 문학을 載道的 관점에서 이해하려고 하였다. 한시의 경우, 작시에 있어 형식보다는 내용을 중시하였으며, 絶句(특히 7언)가 가장 많다. 유희춘의 시는 詩的 교감을 통한 부부사랑, 학문 연마를 통한 自己修養과 自己省察, 忠君之情과 愛民之心, 友情, 感懷 등으로 나눌 수 있다. 그리고 그의 시는 유배기와 해배․복관 이후기로 나눌 수 있다. 유배기는 학문 연마를 통한 自己修養, 友情, 愛民之心 등을 내용으로 한 시들이 주목되며, 해배․복관 이후기는 詩的 교감을 통한 부부사랑, 忠君之情, 感懷, 自己省察 등을 내용으로 한 시들이 많다. 특히 부인 송덕봉과의 시를 통한 문학적 교감과 부부애는 유희춘 시의 특장 중의 하나이다. 그리고 유희춘의 시는 일상생활이나 체험사실 등과 관련된 작품들이 주류를 이루고 있으며, 태반은 담담하게 사실 그대로를 자연스럽게 표현하고 있다.
時調의 경우, 3수 모두 평시조 형태를 취하고 있는데, 戀君愛君의 至情과 太平聖代를 노래하고 있다. 유희춘은 자신의 심정을 절제된 표현으로 時調에 담아 문학적으로 형상화하였는바 평가된다.
日記의 경우, 『미암일기』(친필 및 이본 포함)는 1567년 10월 1일부터 1577년 5월 13일까지의 기록이 현재 전하고 있다. 『미암일기』는 진솔한 자기고백․간명한 표현과 심경묘사․진실구명․남다른 역사인식과 기록정신․권선징악 지향․유형적 제반속성 내포 등 일기문학으로서의 특성과 時調(3首)․漢詩(83首)․文學論과 詩․文에 대한 評․서책인출 및 고전소설 유통과정․민속․연극․일화와 야담 등 다양한 내용을 담고 있다. 現傳하는 일기 중 『미암일기』와 같이 다양한 문학 장르를 담고 있는 일기는 그리 흔치 않다. 특히 일기문학 측면에서 매우 높이 평가된다.
유희춘은 문학작품, 그 중에서도 특히 『미암일기』를 통하여 朝와 野에 걸친 폭넓은 관심과 통찰을 표출하고 있다. 뿐만 아니라 문인의 자세와 사명감이 무엇인가를 보여 주었다. 따라서 그의 문학사적 위치(특히 일기문학사적 위치)는 우뚝하다고 하겠다.

영어초록

Miamilgi and poetry of Miam Yu Huichun (1513~1577) are highly regarded from the perspective of literary history. Therefore, this article examines his literature, in particular, sino-Korean poetry, sijo, and dairy. Taken together, findings from this article lead to the following conclusions:He attempted to literature from a viewpoint of a system. In the case of sino-Korean poetry, for example, contents were weighed more than form in poetry writing having jeolgu(7 eon, especially) in most cases. His poetry can be categorized into couples’ love via poetic communication, self-discipline through academic refinement, loyalty to the king, affection of the people, friendship, sentiment, and self-reflection. Also, his poems are divided into those created while in exile and those written after release from exile and reinstatement. During the exile, he wrote poems mostly about self-discipline via academic refinement, friendship, and affection of the people, while after the release from exile and reinstatement, his poems sang about loyalty to the king, sentiment, self-reflection, and couples’ love via poetic communication in most cases. Among others, literary communion and conjugal love with his wife Song Deokbong through poetry is one of the characteristics of his poetry. Furthermore, daily lives or experiences are major themes of his poems, most of which express what happened naturally as they were plainly.
When it comes to sijo, all of the three pieces take the form of pyeong sijo and sing about true love for the king and reign of peace. Yu Huichun is viewed as embodying his feelings literally into sijo by expressing them in a reserved way.
As far as the diary is concerned, Miamilgi, the diary of Yu Huichun (including versions written by himself and 이본) was kept from Oct. 1, 1567 to May 13, 1577 and survived up to now. The diary not only shows the characteristics of dairy literature such honest confessions, clear and simple expressions, description of his feelings, sought for truth, unique awareness of history, spirit of record, pursuit of morality, and inclusion of attributes by type, but also contains a variety of contents including sijo(3 pieces), sino-Korean poetry (83 pieces), literary views, criticism about poetry and literature as well as distribution of classical novels, folklores, dramas, episodes, and historical romances. Among remaining diaries, Miamilgi is a rare piece that contains various literary genres. Especially, the work is well appreciated in terms of diary literature.
Yu Huichun expresses strong interest in and insight into the whole nation covering the government and the people through literature, Miamilgi, among others. Moreover, he showed how a literary person should behave and what he should seek. Therefore, his status in history of literature (diary literature, in particular) is considered very high.
