The Methods for identification of valid performance indicators of sport within real-time analysis systems

초록

The identification of key elements of performance in sport has been often issued as well as the development of research methods in sport science. Among the issues, the valid key elements, commonly called performance indicators (PIs) in the field of performance analysis of sport, have not found simply even though the plenty of researches in sport science have often considered about it. In addition, the identification of the valid PIs in sport is a major solution where the feedback with the augment information is expected to the practical area from the academic researches. The main aim of the study, therefore, is to investigate the methodological solutions to identify the valid PIs using statistical tests and interview of a coach in the real-time feedback situation. The Multiple Linear Regression (MLR) and Principle Component Analysis (PCA) have, quantitatively, used to investigate the possibility of using statistical tests. And, qualitatively, interviews to an expert who is currently coaching in the national squad of Great Britain women senior basketball are used. The MLR model states that the numbers of valid PIs could be used in the practical situation such as the real-time analysis. On the other hand, the PCA has recommended instead because of correlation between the variables. The PCA could point the set of valid PIs that it is expected to use those finding in the practical situation. The study has also found that the coach’s interviews after the feedback would address the valid PIs with critical reviews.
