스마트 교육매체로서 식생활교육용 애플리케이션의개발 현황과 활용 (Current Status of Dietary Education Applications (App) as a Smart Education Material)

초록

본 연구는 식생활교육용 스마트폰 애플리케이션(앱)의 개발 현황을 분석하여 생애주기별로 식생활교육에 적합한 앱을 선별하여 소개함으로써, 스마트폰 앱을 활용한 식생활교육 활성화에 기여하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 인터넷 포털사이트 및 스마트폰 앱 검색을 통해 추출한 국내외 식생활교육용 앱 3만 여건 중, 교육적 활용도가 있으며, 내용이 충실하고, 다운로드 수가 많은 국내 45건, 국외 44건 앱을 선별하여 생애주기(유아기, 아동기, 성인기)별, 식생활교육 영역(영양·건강, 식품위생·안전, 조리)별로 분류하여 앱의 세부 내용과 활용방안을 소개하였다. 그 결과는 다음과 같다.
첫째, 식생활교육 관련 영역을 검색한 결과, ‘건강·영양‘ 관련 앱이 가장 많았고, 다음으로 ‘조리’, ‘식품안전·위생’ 순으로 나타났다. 둘째, ‘건강·영양’ 관련 앱은 비록 성인 대상이 가장 많았으나 비교적 전 생애에 걸쳐 교육할 수 있는 앱이 개발되어 있었으며, 내용으로는 체중관리를 목표로 하는 것과 식품을 입력했을 때 영양성분을 보여주는 앱이 대부분이었다. 셋째, ‘식품안전·위생’ 관련 앱은 공익적인 성격상 정부기관이 개발한 앱들이 많아 불량식품을 알려주거나 잔류농약 및 식품이력을 알려주고, 유통기한을 관리할 수 있는 앱이 개발되어 있었다. 넷째, ‘조리’ 관련 앱은 유아나 아동 대상으로는 게임 방식의 앱이 많았으며, 성인을 대상은 대부분 음식의 레시피를 제공하고, 요리 관련 커뮤니티를 형성할 수 있는 앱이 제공되고 있었다. 다섯째, 국외 식생활관련 스마트폰용 앱은 국내 앱과 그 내용이 유사하였으나 차별화 되는 점은 질병 관리나 식품 알레르기를 관리할 수 있는 앱이 상대적으로 많았고, ‘식품안전·위생’ 관련 앱이 국내에 비해 다양하였다. 여섯째, 총 89건의 앱 중 선행평가기준에 따라 총 17개의 우수 식생활교육용 앱을 선정할 수 있었다.
위 연구 결과, 영양 및 건강, 식품위생 및 안전, 그리고 조리 관련 다양한 식생활교육용 앱이 출시되어 있으나 대부분이 성인기를 대상으로 하고 있어 유아기, 아동기, 청소년기, 노년기 등 생애주기별로 식생활교육 수요 및 필요성에 맞춘 앱 개발이 요구되었다. 개발된 앱은 지속적 관리 및 업데이트를 통해 관리될 필요가 있으며, 앞으로 본 연구에서 제시된 우수 앱을 비롯해 식생활교육용 앱들이 지속적으로 개발, 보급되어 앱을 활용한 스마트 식생활교육이 활성화되기를 기대한다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study was to analyze the current status of smart phone applications (app) for dietary education to be used as a smart education material. For this purpose, smart phone apps were retrieved from the internet portal sites and smart phone app stores. Over 30,000 apps on food and dietary education were retrieved; however, only 45 from domestic and 44 from foreign sites could be collected based on the fidelity of contents, educational feasibility and high number of downloads. These were classified by the stages of life span (infant, child, adult) and the categories of dietary education (nutrition and health, food hygiene and safety, cooking), and the details of the app contents were suggested for their effective utilization for dietary education. The results were as follows:First, the number of apps on ‘nutrition and health’ was the highest and followed by those of ‘cooking’ and ‘food hygiene and safety’. Second, the main subjects and contents of the apps on nutrition and health were the adults and mostly on weight management and nutrition composition information of foods. Third, the apps on food hygiene and safety were usually developed by governmental institutions and their contents included diagnosis of adulterated food, food traceability, information on pesticide residue in produces, management of foods’ shelf life, etc.. Fourth, the apps on cooking included the ones of game type for infants and children, and mostly food recipes and community activities for adults. Fifth, foreign apps showed similar trends like domestic ones, but were differentiated by the high number of those on food allergy, disease management, and food hygiene and safety. Sixth, seventeen excellent apps could be suggested out of 89 based on the evaluation standard developed for dietary education.
As above results, various smart phone apps are available currently; however, most of them were for adults, therefore, apps for infant, child, juvenile, and old generations need to be developed to meet their dietary education needs. Consistent management and updates were required for the apps to be used as dietary education material. Along with the excellent dietary education apps suggested in this study, further development and propagation of apps need to be made to facilitate the smart dietary education.
