    초록

This paper examines the degree in which the frequent appearances of women in Kim Sang-hun's works released during liberation period have intervened the poet's conscious wandering. Women in the two periods intensively show the poet's individual emotions who has encountered liberation, and the emotions of a group he was involved in.
A mother portrayed in his poem stimulated him to be a poet ever since colonial period, yet asked him to halt his participation in the movement for the sake of moral laws. Her existential qualifications engaged the poet's circumstance of being a foster son, which then elevated his revolutionary spirits. The poet refused the terms of his mother, severed blood relationship with his foster father, and chose extreme routes to march in the path of a revolutionist. This decision caused internal disturbance in him, which later posed as a psychological element that stimulated him to be deeply attached to family life during the liberation period.
In Kim's poems, Sooniee and other women were portrayed as entities that cope with political contradictions of the liberation period. The poet, through Sooniee and other similar women characters, pursued both the expansion of movement frontier and the healing of a psychological wound. Those women were replacements of his half sister who ceaselessly restrained his biographical life, and took the role of uplifting his revolutionary spirit. Furthermore, those women were the ones that urged him to sever blood relationships. Those poems that were not free from relationships with those women were expressions of his temper that was unmeasurably tender and delicate.
As can be read, Kim Sang-hun was a ‘vanguard poet’ who was active during the liberation period; but he was innumerably faced with conflicts as a main body of the movement due to elements related to family life. In a movement perspective, his poems rhetorically professed radical slogans and severed relationships; however they were also interspersed with psychological conflicts. Due to this, he had hold-ups in poetic accomplishments during liberation period; and thereby, his crossing over the border into North Korea appears to be the most ideological choice.
