조선후기 因山時 국왕의 山陵 隨駕에 대한 고찰 (A Study on Sanreung Suga by the King at the Time of Insan in the Late Period of Joseon)

초록

필자는 大行大王이나 大行大妃의 因山 당일 국왕이 山陵에 隨駕하는 문제를 조선전기와 조선후기로 나누어 고찰하여, 조선의 國喪 연구에 미력하나마 일조하는 한편, 王室과 士大夫家 喪禮의 한 차이점을 밝히고자 노력하였다.
조선전기에 한정한 앞의 논고에서는 국왕의 산릉 수가가 『국조오례의』에 규정되어 있으나 실제로 조선 왕가에서는 거의 이루어지지 않아 隨駕 不可가 祖宗朝의 前例로 고착화되었음을 밝히고, 아울러 祗送ㆍ祗迎 및 下玄宮時望哭禮가 수가를 대체하는 대안의 變禮로 자리잡는 과정을 천착하였다.
이제 본고에서는 조선후기를 중심으로 국왕의 산릉 수가 실태를 살펴보고, 수가 불가의 사유를 되짚어본 뒤, 영조 34년(1758) 편찬된 『國朝喪禮補編』 산릉 수가 문제를 연계하여 산릉 親臨時 玉帛을 드리는 주체 및 지송ㆍ지영ㆍ망곡례의 장소를 천착함으로써, 조선시대 因山時 국왕의 산릉 수가에 대한 전반적인 고찰을 마무리 지었다.

영어초록

This researcher tried to consider the king's following the deceased to the tomb on the day of state funeral in accordance with different times, the early and late periods of Joseon, helping subsequent researches about the state funeral system of Joseon and determining differences between the funeral rites of the royal court and the noble family. The findings from the consideration which are related to the early Joseon period were already published. This study focused on how kings of the late Joseon period acted on the day of state funeral.
This study identified and investigated four reasons why like the kings of the early Joseon period, those of the late Joseon period rarely went to the tomb on the day of state funeral, not observing provisions of 『Gukjo Oryeeui』.In the late Joseon period, King Yeongjo was the only monarch who visited in person the tomb on the day of state funeral. In the 33th year of his reign, the king went to the tomb where the state funeral of Queen Mother Inwon was to be performed. This study discussed how Yeongjo's visit to the tomb was reflected in 『Gukjo Sangrye Bopyeon』 published in the 34th year of the king's rule(1758). Finally, this study discussed in detail places where kings of the late Joseon period performed alternative rituals such as sending off the deceased from the court with respect on the day of the funeral(祗送), receiving the ancestral tablet with respect after the funeral completion(祗迎) and reciting a funeral dirge while viewing the tomb far away from the court at the time of burying the dead(望哭禮), instead of following the deceased to the tomb. With the findings of this study, this researcher concluded an overall consideration of Sanreung Suga by the king at the time of Insan in the Joseon period.
