장수 가족기업의 경영특성 비교 분석: 한국 노당기와와 일본 쇼에이도(松栄堂)의 사례 (A Study on the Comparative Analysis of the Managerial Characteristics of Longevity Family Business: A Cases Study on Nodang Tilery in Korea and Shoyeido in Japanese)

초록

본 연구의 목적은 한국의 ㈜노당기와와 일본의 ㈜쇼에이도(松栄堂)의 사례를 비교하여 장수가족기업의 경영특성을 분석하고 우리나라 가족기업이 장수기업으로 지속가능하게 성장할 수 있는 시사점을 제시하는데 있다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 먼저, 가족 관점에서 ㈜노당기와는 단합하는 기회를 만든다는 우월성이 ㈜쇼에이도보다 크나 ㈜쇼에이도에 비해 윤리적, 투명성 등에서는 다소 미흡하다. 다음으로 기업 관점에서 ㈜노당기와와 ㈜쇼에이도는 사훈을가지고 있다. 그리고 ㈜노당기와는 전통기와의 세계화에 관심을 두지만 ㈜쇼에이도는 충성 고객 확보에 초점을 둔다. 끝으로 소유권 관점에서 상속세와 관련하여 ㈜노당기와는 세금을 사전에 적립하는 등의 노력이 보이지 않지만㈜쇼에이도는 생명보험을 활용해 상속세에 대비한다. 연구 결과 다음과 같은 시사점을 주고 있다. 우리나라의 가족기업은 기업보다 가족 이해를 우선하는 특징이 있으나 일본의 가족기업은 가족보다 기업 이해를 우선하며, 전통과현대의 조화를 통해 지속 가능성을 추구하고 있다. 우리나라는 승계 유연성을 기르면서 원활한 승계가 이뤄지는 방안을 모색할 필요성이 있다.

영어초록

In order for a family business consisting of mutually heterogeneous elements of family and business to succeed, it must respect and observe two boundaries. This study believes that by studying these cases and discovering the sources for sustainable management, it is possible to present implications for family businesses that are about to succeed. The purpose of this study is to analyze the management characteristics of long-lived family businesses by comparing the cases of Nodang Tilery Co., Ltd. in Korea and Shoyeido Co., Ltd., and to suggest implications for Korean family businesses to grow sustainably as long-lived companies. The results of the study are as follows. First, from a family point of view, the superiority of creating an opportunity to unite with Nodang Tilery Co. is greater than that of Shoyeido Co., Ltd., but it is somewhat insufficient in ethical and transparency compared to Shoyeido Co., Ltd.. Next, from a corporate point of view, Nodang Tilery Co. and Shoyeido Co., Ltd. have private lessons. And Nodang Tilery Co. is interested in globalization with traditional devices, but Shoyeido Co., Ltd. focuses on securing loyal customers. Finally, from the perspective of ownership, there is no effort to accumulate taxes in advance in relation to inheritance tax, but Shoyeido Co., Ltd. prepares for inheritance tax by using life insurance. As a result of the study, the following implications are given. First, Korean family business, as seen through Nodang Tilery Co., maintain a management method that focuses on blood-centered succession and family harmony, and focuses on preserving local communities and traditional culture. In other words, Korea prioritizes family understanding over businesses, and is characterized by emphasizing domestic-centered management. On the other hand, Japanese family businesses viewed through Shoyeido Co., Ltd. are laying the foundation for long-term growth based on a flexible succession structure that transcends blood ties and globalized entrepreneurship. In other words, unlike Korea, Japan prioritizes corporate understanding over family and pursues sustainability through the harmony of tradition and modernity. Korean and Japanese family businesses have something in common that they manage companies while accepting traditional culture and modern trends. On the other hand, in Japan, businesses are prioritized over family members, but in Korea, family businesses are prioritized over businesses, and family businesses are inherited centered on blood ties, so there is low flexibility in relation to succession. There is a need to find a way for smooth succession while dividing flexibility.
