초록

이 글은 송제마을 세시의례와 놀이의 기억 양상을 기술하여 그 전통적 기능과 의미 구조를 분석하고 있다. 또한 사회경제적 변화에 따른 시간문화의 전환과, 새롭게 실천되고 있는 시간문화 실천의 경향과 의미를 논의하고 있다. 세시풍속은 전통사회의 공동체적 시간문화로서, 시간의 주기에 따라 주민들이 그들의 생활과 생업 속에서 전승해온 경험지식의 총체라 할 수 있다.
송제마을의 전통적인 세시풍속의 전승은 사실상 이루어지지 않고 있다. 마을사회가 새마을운동을 경과하면서 이룩해낸 마을 환경과 생활의 합리화, 그에 따른 마을주민들의 의식 변화에 발맞추어, 많은 경우에 세시풍속은 과거형으로 남아 기억 속에 잔존하고 있다. 그러나 전통이 박물관에서 다루어지는 박제품이 아니라고 할 때, 또 세시풍속에서 시간의 주기성이 어떤 식으로든지 변화할 수밖에 없음을 받아들인다고 할 때, 그 시간의 리듬에 따라 전개되는 마을주민들의 일상생활은 현재의 문화적 인식과 구조를 보여주는 의미 있는 시간문화 연구의 자료가 될 수 있다.

영어초록

The Korean annual customs are religious and social rituals that Koreans life-style has been conventionally or seasonally repeated depending on its topography and climate, which can be defined as temporal culture resources reflecting the temporal awareness of the traditional society and its periodicity. The research of annual customs will be a work for a new understanding of the principles and meanings of temporal customs and the asking again of their values through which the designing of society can be sought for.
In the modern temporal system, the distribution of time can be achieved that the effective utilization of workforce leads to higher productivity. The modern time-distribution has been subordinating men(live in song-je village)’s production activities into markets and separating the cultural subject from its products to grade them by price, which resulted in the exclusion and extinction of the cultures which do not accord with it. In this process, the cultural subject has been habituated to a consumptive culture and accordingly the productive culture autonomously flowing in their lives has lost its value.
If the annual customs are considered to be a symbolic system which is repeated in the cycle of life, the essence of its temporality must be the culture created in the organic union of labor and freedom. Based on that temporality, such cultural forms as rituals and festivals with the unit of an individual, a family or a community have been possible. Consequently, it is necessary to renew the meaning and the value of the annual customs which are useful memories of social production and activity based on the commonality of life and society.
