한국인 화자의 문법상 선택과 요인에 관한 연구 (A Study on Korean Aspectual Choice and Factors by Native Speakers)

Recently, the relationship between grammatical aspects and aspectual factors such as telicity, transitivity, subject animacy, and location adverbs in English has been a topic of interest in language acquisition and psycholinguistics. This study aimed to deepen our understanding of the relationship between universal features of grammatical aspects and Korean grammatical aspect markers, as well as the strength of each factor in the grammatical choice. A forced-choice sentence completion task was performed for 55 Korean adult native speakers. The simple past tense ‘-ess-,’ expressed in perfect and imperfect forms, was used for all basic sentences, respectively. As a result, it was revealed that all factors of telicity, transitivity, subject animacy, and location information were universal semantic factors that significantly affected the grammatical choice of the Korean language. In terms of the hierarchy of influence among factors, telicity was the most decisive factor, and transitivity was the least strong. Transitivity was also weaker than the subject’s animacy and locative information, which were assumed to have the weakest linkage or correlation with grammatical aspect markers. It was newly analyzed as a result of reflecting the unique and specific individuality regarding grammatical aspect of the Korean sentence structures. This study is meaningful in the light of providing cross -linguistically empirical data by clarifying the relationship between the structure-semantic-discourse-based factors and Korean grammatical Aspect and by revealing the hierarchy of influences through experiments.
