A Study for Scenic Value of Soyosan(Mt. Soyo)

초록

This research aimed to furnish the basic data to be designated as 'scenic sites' which are the government-designated cultural properties designated by investigating and analyzing the resources worth of Soyosan. The whole area designated as Soyosan tourist resort was made the places in this research, and it was investigated and analyzed after being divided into three sections such as the analysis of natural worth, the analysis of historical and cultural worth, the analysis of landscape worth in the contents. The natural worth was attained through geographical features, geological features, soil, water system, the floral and faunal analysis, the historical and cultural worth through the analysis of Soyosan, Korean designated cultural assets, other ruins, the analysis of the landscape worth through the landscape elements, visibility analysis, the landscape assessment of Soyosan surroundings.
As the results of the research, Soyosan was evaluated to be excellent in the natural value, historical and cultural value and landscape value, and was judged to be able to be designated as a scenic spot. The natural value was analyzed that the development of the various folds in the geographical features or geological features and the fault structures, steep cliffs everywhere and small and large-scale waterfalls, fantastic rocks and stones, and pine trees which grow naturally in Kalbawi(a big rock with the sharp and pointed form like a blade) have the unique value. The historical and cultural value could be grasped through numerous temple sites including Jajaeam (an old Buddhist temple) and Korean-designated cultural assets. The landscape value could be ascertained through the beautiful landscape for 6 highest peaks which form Soyosan to create and Kalbawi(a big rock with the sharp and pointed form like a blade) which all pointed fantastic rocks and stones excellently form a mountain peak.
These natural value, historical and cultural value, and landscape value of Soyosan are judged to indicate the high possibility which Soyosan can be designated as a scenic spot.
