랄프 로렌 니트웨어에 나타난 패턴 이미지 연구 - 여성복 니트웨어를 중심으로 - (A Study on the Pattern Image of Ralph Lauren Knit Wear - Focusing on Woman’s Knit Wear -)

초록

Ralph Lauren is one of the fashion designer who represents the American fashion industries. Lauren has suggested a life style which is wearing elegant suit for week days and wearing casual country style for week end. This life style influenced to the american but also to the people in overseas. Thus, he lunching western style line and has been achieved his american dream. His collection has been included the knit wear every year and it has been showing consistent images as long as weaving techniques. This research reviewed and analyzed formative characteristic of the design images of Lauren’s woman’s knit wear F/W collection from 2008 to 2018. The result of this study is as follows. Navajo indian was proud of their tradition and respected to the mother nature which is closely related to their life. They created woven basket, then they learn weaving and dying techniques from pueblo indian. Lauren adopted navajo indian’s traditional images such as traditional stripe, triangle, zigzag, serrature, diamond, eye-dazzler and develop his knit wear line with these images by modern aspect. Lauren added value of american history and spirit to his fashion and the people who yearn for the good old days felt more comfortable with his warm vintage style which was based on the tradition. This research can be a valuable reference for expecting that we can develop design with pride to applicate our traditional asset.
