중학생의 사이버폭력 피해경험 위험요인:피해유형과 학년별의 탐색 (A Study on Risk Factors for the Victimization of Cyber Violence in Middle School Students :Victimization Types and Grade)

초록

본 연구는 사이버폭력 피해경험 유형을 특정인과 불특정인으로 구분하여 개인, 가족, 학교, 사이버환경요인에서 학년에 따라 어떠한지 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 대전, 평택, 청주, 익산, 군산시에 거주하는 중학교 재학생 863명으로부터 자료를 수집하였고 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 일반적 배경에 따른 차이는 형제가 없고 학년이 높은 경우 특정인에 따른 피해가 높았고, 불특정인 피해는 성별에 따라 부의 교육수준이 높을수록 더 높았다. 또한 학교생활에서 만족도가 낮고 인터넷 이용시간과 동아리 활동을 많이 하는 학생이 특정인과 불특정인에 의한 피해가 더 높은 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 특정인과 불특정인에 대한 사이버폭력 피해경험에 영향을 미치는 요인은 학년에 따라 영향력의 차이를 보였다. 학년이 낮을수록 가족과 학교관련요인에서 영향을 더 받았고, 학년이 높을수록 개인관련요인에서 영향을 더 받는 것으로 확인되었다. 공통적으로는 사이버관련 요인에서 가장 큰 영향력을 보였는데, 가해경험이 많을수록 피해경험이 높아지는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 학년이 낮은 경우 친구관계 폭력을 학년이 높은 경우 모르는 사람과의 폭력으로 관계됨을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 결과는 중학생의 사이버폭력은 친구관계에 의한 폭력경험이 발달하여 점차 불특정인에 대한 폭력으로 활성화되어진고 볼 수 있다. 학교폭력이 온라인에서 부정적으로 경험되어질 때 더 위험한 행동으로도 결부될 가능성을 확인할 수 있었다. 이에 본 연구결과는 연령에 따른 위험요인을 파악하여 사이버폭력을 단계적으로 예방하고 개입하는데 정책적인 시사점을 갖는다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study was to examine the relationships of personal, family, school and cyber environment factors to grade in the victimization of cyber violence after two different types of victimization were selected. One was cyber violence against specific people, and the other was cyber violence against nonspecific people. Data were gathered from 863 middle school students who resided in the cities of Daejeon, Pyeongtaek, Cheongju, Iksan and Gunsan. The findings of the study were as follows: First, as for differences according to general background, the students who had no siblings and who were in the upper grades were more victimized by cyber violence against specific people, and the students whose fathers were better educated were more victimized by cyber violence against nonspecific people. The students who were less satisfied with their school lives, who spent more hours on the Internet and who engaged in more club activities were more afflicted with cyber violence against specific and nonspecific people. Second, the influences of the factors that affected the victimization of cyber violence against specific and nonspecific people were different according to grade. The students who were in the lower grades were more affected by family and school-related factors, and the students who were in the upper grades were under the more influence of personal factors. The cyber-related factors were most influential regardless of grade, and the students were more afflicted with cyber violence when they had more experience of offering it.
Cyber violence was more linked to relationships with friends among the lower graders, and that was more related to strangers among the upper graders. This finding implies that the cyber violence of the middle school students started to take place in association with their relationships with friends and then gradually developed into violence against nonspecific people. It indicates that it's likely to be followed by more dangerous behaviors when school violence is experienced online in a more negative way. The findings of the study are expected to give some political suggestions on how to find out risk factors in different age groups to prevent and intervene in cyber violence stage by stage.
